I was playing around with the Cubase 13 Vocoder yesterday, but maybe someone who doesn't follow the Cubase thread will be interested. For the vocoder I tried to speak the lyrics "on beat", in the second part I just whistled a bit

I used a few plugins, mainly Serum, Ana and Model 72 "Minimoog" for sequences, Polymaxx, Alicia Keys, Repro, Gatekeeper to chop an Omni-pad rhythmically. The bass is a layered bass (Serum for subs and Model 72 for the upper frequencies)
It's still a very short idea (about 50s) and its in D-Minor (D-Moll)
What do you guys think?

Sounds good, nice mix and master, nice combination of instruments as well.
What plugin did you use for drums?
Vocoder sounds good, I couldn't hear the vocode effect as much on the whistling sections

For the drums, the free Groove Agent SE (Steinberg) that comes with Cubase.
Yes, the vocoder is only on the voice. The whistling is without the vocoder effect.

The vocoder sounds very good. I like the whistling at first but it perhaps goes on too long?

Thanks! Yes, at the moment the part sounds like a chorus and the second repetition should sound a bit different. I'm not that far yet, I've only tested a basic idea with the vocoder.

I like where it could go, but you haven't gone anywhere with it yet. The whistling is a nice idea and I like it but I do feel like it isn't given a Story to play out in a Scene so, like many things here, feels like a synth workout rather than a piece.

Still, with some Variation and an Arrangement, it could be really nice.

Thank you Benedict! Yes, of course there is no finished arrangement, that's why I wrote "idea". I had actually only tried something with the vocoder and thought to myself "oh, that's actually a cool idea"

Drake has a thick German accent.

I actually couldn't tell the vocoder parts were in English until I heard the A.I. voices.

Forgot to mention that a few new plugins are included

- NI Session Guitarist, Strummed Acoustic 2
- SSL SubGen for the bass
- Waves Silk Vocal & Sibilance

I dropped Model 72 and replaced it with Repro.
There's not much on the master... bx_digital 3, SSL Native Bus Compressor, UAD Pultec, Smart Limit & Cubase LinDither

I listened to the original track: the vocoder sound sounds strangely interesting.
But the whistling melody remains in your ear.
