Alpha Juno?

Its decent. Quite old and not quite there. If they did a v2 it would be exciting.

Now if Softube did an Alpha Juno to the level of their Juno 106 that would be something

I suggested this to Softube when emailing their support earlier in the year. Other developers I would trust to do the Alpha Juno at that level would be TAL, Synapse, or U-he.

I did a head to head comparison between Redominator and my hardware Alpha Juno 1 several months back, by using the Juno Alpha CTRLR panel to send the same randomized patches to both simultaneously. I was surprised at the difference. I get the sense that Redominator was designed mostly for accurate hoover sounds, and outside of that the shortcomings in the emulation become more apparent.

Which is sad, because the Alpha Juno is actually a very versatile polysynth given its simple architecture. It definitely deserves the kind of exacting emulation that its more popular siblings have received.

To be fair... Yes some stepped filter sweeps can sound really cool. I like the Roland mc505 one, very burbling.

cs1x filter not quite so good though...

I've never seen a real alpha Juno, but I imagine it sounds pretty good. Poly synths don't need to be complicated imo. Too much going on can almost make chords redundant.

It does sound good, to my ear anyway. Not just good but special. There's something going on with the filter that I've not really heard in any other software or hardware synth I've tried. The guy from Airwindows (can't remember his name at the moment) created a filter plugin to recreate it as an effect plugin, citing it as the reason the Alpha is one of his favorite synths.

I don't know enough about analog circuits to describe what exactly makes it so pleasant to my ear (and to others I've heard describe it as unique) but a good demonstration of it is a preset on the Alpha with a long filter sweep called "SynRise." If I knew of any software synth that could recreate the way my ears perceive that, I would buy it instantly.

I'd also appreciate an Akai S series Plugin with a GUI in the style of Pulsar Audio 1178 with a nice faceplate and a foldable menu above for sample mapping and programming. Inside a simulation of the whole signal path like TAL Sampler, switchable between the models from S612 to S3000...

I agree some synths do have distinctive sound but many high end software synths can be used to make sounds that would be same as hardware.

Looking from a distance you see four cars zoom by (the listener). You notice that two cars are blue but they drive too quickly for you to see what brands the blue cars were (the mix). Both cars are heading to the same location.

The passenger of Blue Car #1 is driving a cheap Citroen C3 and is very warm as he cannot use the air conditioner because that will make the car go slower, so he has his windows down to get some air. He is listening to Radio Hits and is humming along.

The passenger of Blue Car #2 is driving a BMW. He listening to Bohemian Rhapsody on full blast while having a nice breeze cool down the interior of the car.

Driver of car #1 doesn't care about cars.
Driver of car #2 loves his car and the experience it gives him.

Both will arrive at the destination at the same time.

since when do passengers drive cars?
