edit: so the CP80 is actually a new instrument :dog:
I wondered if "entirely new" meant new to the v Collection or new releases not seen before. But yeah since there is a cp-80, I'd assume new meant brand new like not yet released. I guess we don't know yet what the other one is. Wouldn't be surprised by a redone wurlitzer as that one kinda socks honestly. But if the 2 redos are minimoog and wurlitzer then no arp2600 redo. Would be surprising. Also I don't understand what they mean by 4 highly requested modern synths.

199

I’m bracing for more disappointment from Arturia.

Really not liking their recent direction.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Actually I guess it probably depends on what version you have to determine the upgrade price.

Post

Hmm. My upgrade price from VC8 to VC9 just went up to $299.

As long as it's NOT "Augmented Woodwinds" I'm fine with anything :borg:

The prices have returned to "normal" after the black friday sales.
My upgrade to FX4 went back up to €199 from €69 I think it was.

Is that announcement legit? It appeared, then disappeared from that site. No mention of it anywhere else.

I received an email about it as I was associated with a magazine for a some years. I can't mention details though.

(after wading thru this long ass thread...) did not see much on the Yamaha TG77. noted a couple mentions of the SY77/99, but not being a keyboard/synth user, not sure if this is equivalent.

fwiw, was handed a old project with some TG77 tracks printed thru a 'budget' AD convertor, could benefit from a quality/performance upgrade. i happen to have a hw unit (which is why i got the project), but the display is dim and have to consider replacing it or finding a midi editor...?

the SY/TG77 appears to be unique given the combo of FM + samples with some 'RCM' voodoo, but perhaps the DX7 backlash killed off any potential interest? idk. can imagine why similar era synths (i.e. Korg M1/Roland D-50) might be off limits given the products from the OG companies, but the DX7 seems to be licensable. i've liked what Arturia has done with their unique offerings, thinking (in a saturated market) they could add value (over a plain old FM synth) with something like the ability to use your own samples with this engine.

saw the gospelmusic thing but it appears to be static samples = 'don't even bother'.

I highly doubt that those subtle yet obvious UI changes in the images were faked.

Haha exactly. Except I would add that you have been too generous. It is not half a gigabyte of graphics bloat it is well over a gigabyte of graphics bloat. Try loading up their Jupiter 8 on a Mac Studio display at 120%. It is 1.2GB. Ridiculous. People go on endlessly about how you need ram if you use large sample libraries but forget to point out that you need massive amounts of ram to load these ridiculous UIs that some of these developers are putting out. Go ahead and try to load the entire v collection instruments list into individual tracks. I'll bet you'll be over 32GB of ram just for that. That's all UI graphics bloat. Outrageous. And if you're planning carefully to avoid getting scammed by Apple with their ram prices then this is something you should be paying attention to. Choice of plugins can really impact your capacity planning when buying new machines to produce on.
