My upgrade was €99, was just about worth it to me. Not by much...

I was thinking the same thing. At half off it is a bit more reasonable. That's the normal price and everything out of the sale price is the you-got-to-be-kidding-me price.

What is interesting, to me, though is apparently after you skip a version the pricing stops increasing. So V6 the upgrade is 299 but V8 the upgrade is also 299. I think the upgrade costs 199 for v9 though? So it makes more sense to skip a version, getting more and more like Komplete to me.
It does, be careful though, V6 might fall off the next time around. I'm curious if V9 allowed you to upgrade V5. Does anyone know?

The CP was born as an alternative to the real piano, but quickly became its own thing. Many started using the PF and DX to shlep around as weight became more and more of a factor and sound was compromised for the saving of our backs & joints. And my biggest problem now with all the DX emus is the insistence of packing the presets with way too many of these compromised cheese whiz variants. The CP is a piano without a soundboard but still in a cabinet, putting it somewhere between a piano and a hammered harp and ready for any effect you put on it.

That being said, at their site now and the CP sound demos sound closer to the 80 to me and my upgrade price is $199. Oh well.
Getting closer with each upgrade to just being interested in Pigments and the Augmented. Seems my most nostalgic interest with them are just the organs. Clear dichotomy ahead.

Upgrade price is €299, hell no for this price.
I only have Minifreak V from the "new additions". Still I expected a much better price.

VitaminD wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 5:34 pm At this point I wouldn't be expecting a ton of new VSTi releases but more so updates of what is already there. (and more soundware..)
The problem is they don't even seem to be updating the old plugins at a fast enough pace to keep up and prevent the collection as a whole from gradually becoming more and more outdated.

The Arp 2600 dates back to ~2005 and hasn't had any major updates to the DSP code since. I think that's the last truly "ancient" plugin they haven't rewritten. By the time V11 comes out and hopefully updates the Arp 2600, synths like the SEM, Matrix 12, Moog Modular will be over 10 years old and in serious need of a DSP rewrite. They'd need to rewrite 3-4 of their old synths with each new V-Collection just to keep their heads above the water so to speak.
That is what happens when you have to pace updates to have anything to put in the upcoming versions. They could theoretically throw it all at us quickly, but then that diminishes the upgrade money over time. Instead they will slow stream a few at a time. I wouldn't be surprised if some are even discontinued and dropped from future Collections...

It isn't Arturia specifically at fault but just a large business that has to keep generating revenue on a matured platform to keep everyone employed, long term. It was a lot easier when things were new and fresh.

My guess is a few of those probably would take more effort too and/or there are fewer people using them to warrant the effort, so they're back burnered.

I was just playing through the Jean Michel Jarre tribute bank, and there's tons of ARP patches that sound absolutely 100% hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck exact and perfect to my ears - and I'm an early JMJ obsessive.

Doubtless it can be improved somehow, but just saying that it ain't too shabby as it is, sonically.
I like the sound, and having never owned an original I can't compare anyway. Although I do find that if you plug in too many patch cables it becomes a bit unstable, even crashing out. I don't get any other Arturia crashing on me.

I don't have the latest Mini version to check it out, but the old Mini in my DAW seems let me play more than 6 voices, like you mentioned. But then when I loaded an old Mini preset inside Analog Lab with just one osc switched on and the polyphony switch turned on, it seems to also be limited to 6 like you said about the V4.

I used the preset Triple Prism (Mini V3), but switched off two oscs and switched polyphony on.
Maybe I missed a setting somewhere? Or Analog Lab (for whatever reason) is using that same limit on polyphony as the Mini V4 has.

Trancer wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 6:24 pm New instruments do not mean adding existing instruments, but rather creating new ones and here this is not at all the case.

So the augmented ones are already not really real instruments and should not be taken as new features, but a simple bonus.

Faced with competition, it was high time to update the mini v.

Sample packs, not the most interesting.

The best for last, Arturia asks me 299 euros for the update.

I love Arturia, but these guys are nonsense.

299 euros just to have Acid V, Augmented, a piano, three sample packs, updates, don't mess around.

To conclude, at this price 299 euros, Arturia will not be for me, really exaggerating to have nothing interesting on the contrary.

I don't think I'll be the only one to have this reaction.

Mr. Arturia, perhaps we should review the offers for your customers and stop taking us for cash cows and I weigh my words.

Really a shame, I really like Arturia and they have truly exceptional customer service, but we really need to stop practicing like this.

Not at all the best way to retain your customers, quite the contrary.

By thinking too big, we become small again.
The irony is that the likelihood of someone at Arturia reading your post seems rather zero.
But yes, you are right
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a 2nd hand license for v5 last year & upgraded it to v9 when they were doing the Minifreak bundle deal back in Feb iirc.

€99 for me. The only new ones for me are CP70, Woodwinds and the remakes. I upgraded, but only because someone bought me an early xmas present. Personally I think this update was at least one good NEW synth short of expectations.

Looking forward to trying out the Wurlie and Mini, it's a slow download though.

These recurring upgrades look like a subscription...

I got v9 + acid V and fx3+cold fire and lx224. Upgrade to v10 is 149, to fx4 199.
Sorry but no way arturia. I got 3 super awesome synths by uad for less than 100 together this year. Not even in bundle!
Pricing and value needs to adjust, at least for the big players.
I will happily wait for what fx5 will bring and maybe v11.

If the new synths/effects would be more interesting I'd consider 149 for the upgrade, but not with this content. (I remember when they added 3 synths and 2 updates in the last version or even was it?) also owning fx collection3 and lot of singles should count somehow, my upgrade when the rotary was released was 29. 199 now is a joke.

Btw wurli and Cp are not full blown synths for me. And the augmented series is just pigments lite with samples. (which I own already too)
There have been far better upgrades in the v series for me. The acid V is nice and minifreak potentially too. But there are more interesting vintage synths out there to emulate besides packing the sample players.

More like WUP in a way. You can keep using the old versions, but if you want updates you have to spend the money.

On V9. 299. I can wait a while for 99. EDIT: V8!! :dog:

Used to be 199 at release though.
