Thanks guys. I already have Scaler and Captain Plugins. I was looking for something to just break up block chords and make them into broken chords like the image. I guess it's just easier to edit a progression by hand.

Ohhh... Then the answer is simpler: Phrasebox. It does exactly that.
Also some FeelYourSound should do that (haven't tested): House engine, chillout engine, trance engine....

Perhaps have a look at Chord Potion, by Feel your sound? It takes incoming chord information, and can transform into melodies, bass, and rhythmic chord phrases. This is a vst, unlike Sundog which is standalone, and needs a midi connection into a daw.

Yeah... seems like those two are the best for what I'm looking for. Especially Phrasebox after looking through the manual. I know I have a license somewhere.. I just never really used it. Thanks.

Wondering what's good for specifically generating drum/percussion rythms...as opposed to either the totally random generators or drag'n'drop midi ....something with some drum sensibility...
was looking at Beat scholar, liquid rhythm demo (which I can't get to install properly )...have Jamstix already

I will wait for an upgrade sale for V3.

If you're looking for a drum sequencer, Sugarbytes Drumcomputer is very powerful (and if you're open to euclidian stuff instead of traditional step sequencing, Hornet HATEFISh RhyGenerator is a lot of fun).

But if you're hooked on Beat Scholar's special sauce (being able to put beats on selected subdivisions) there's no alternative that I know of (except for using a Piano Roll style editor like Cubase's Drum Editor - but such editors lack pattern based drum machine features).
Then again, Beat Scholar is lacking other features ATM, compared to e.g. Drumcomputer.

In comparison to Drumcomputer, the multitude of drum plugins with sequencer lack features (D16 Drumazon/Nepheton, Roland Cloud 808/909, Algonaut Atlas...)

There is another category of drum plugins I'm not famiiar with, who aim to simulate a drummer.
E.g. Rayzon Jamstix.

did you find it? I can't see anything other than remidi2 in my pb account
