You definitely should, it's excellent.seafire wrote: Wed Jan 17, 2024 8:44 pm For some reason, I've never tried the original, maybe I should....

Take the time you need to lay the right foundationsUrs wrote: Sun Jan 21, 2024 5:00 pm Depends on my jet lag after NAMM I would say. I have about two weeks to fix some bugs and things before I go on vacation. If I can't make it before that vacation, I'll have to keep working on it after I'm back and then it won't be before March or April.
But speaking for me, I don't mind having some known open bugs in a beta version, especially when you quickly document the known issues.

Sorry if I overread, but when will be Zebralette 3 beta released then? Do I have to subscribe to a list? Doesn't have Zebralette 3 a filter?

March seems realistic given Urs' NAMM commitments and vacation plans.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Tue Jan 23, 2024 3:27 pm Sorry if I overread, but when will be Zebralette 3 beta released then? Do I have to subscribe to a list? Doesn't have Zebralette 3 a filter?
Zebralette2 didn't have a filter, for v3 won't have one either. It's just a teaser/training tool for its bigger brother and it will make for an excellent platform for creating wavetables to use in other synths, unlike its predecessor!

A different sort of question and one open to everyone!
At the moment my main bread-and-butter synth is VPS Avenger. Apart from that, I have synths for specific genres (e.g. Plogue Chipsynth for retro game songs and so-on). I'm trying to always streamline what I have and, while I'm more of a composer than a sound-designer right now, it would be fun at some point to get better at it. So there's a chance I might move onto Zebra3 as my primary synth and stick with it, sort of like how HZ or other composers stick to just one main synth.
I know that many users have their own collection of wavetables, but my experience with wavetables has never been good. Typically when I import wavetables from sample packs on the internet, they almost never sound as good as the built-in ones with a plugin. Of course, I've also long since learned that just because a wavetable comes from a certain synth, it doesn't mean Serum or another plugin will inherent it's character haha.
The whole enterprise of worrying about collecting or curating wavetables feels needless. It feels like the right approach is to just create my own collection of wavetables from scratch with Zebra3, learning and improving in how I use the synth overtime. Even if they don't sound good at first, I'm at least more likely to learn more than simply downloading wavetables off the internet.
Curious what other people's thoughts are ^^

Most of times, the simplest (it's all relative eh) wavetables lead to the most musical results. It's often more about tasteful and relevant subsequent processing for a given goal. And with regards to Z3, OSC FX, FM, filtering, wavetable or additive rendering engines (among countless other options) will factor in. So exciting, right ?
The effort on the editors in Z3 will most likely make using 3rd party WT useless IMO, unless you need something extremely specific.
I for one also plan to focus (almost) solely on Z3, and a handful of other synths for very specific results (Bazille and Harmor mostly). On a side note, while I LOVE Hive 2, I wonder if Z3 will replace it in most task I'd use H2 ?

Wow! This probably might allow you to implement smth like picture-to-wave function into Zebra or Hive. I just keep speculating of possible update and market conquestUrs wrote: Thu Jan 18, 2024 1:05 pm Not sure if this is where we’re headed. I’ll watch the video after we land in LA.
One thing to keep in the back of your mind is that Zebralette has a fundamentally different approach to waveform generation than Serum or Vital. It’s based on splines instead of samples, so it’s more like vector graphics (Illustrator) than pixel graphics (Photoshop).
Each have their strengths and disadvantages.
That said, we have plenty of ideas for reusing stuff.

Would it be too much too ask from you guys to partner with OhmForce ? because you will, they can contribute to the Zebralette codebase, and the resulting product could be called "Ohmlette"
(great for after-breakfast gamming)
Sorry, I just had to get it outta my systam

Studied Zebralette deeper and agree now, there's now need in Presets for 2 FX section.Urs wrote: Thu Jan 18, 2024 6:51 amWe have a key follow modifier that can be applied to anything... still not sure if this is what is asked for. Let's discuss when we put it out?OCTO8R wrote: Wed Jan 17, 2024 10:18 pm Remapping of Modulation is smth different if I got Z2 ModMappers clearly. It's like a grade of Modulation and strength of it but tied to notes. It's implemented in the simplest way In Serum and PhasePlant and is really advanced in Vital which makes it to outstand. Allows to Sidechain Effects with the same Modulator, especially after reversing it, or to controll the speed of modulation. Z2 ModMappers are quite different... like advanced Steppers maybe... never met smth like this actually. Creative thins though.
Auxiliary Modulation is actually Modulation of Modulation. Like ADSR modulates Modulation between LFO and Filter Cutoff.
Module presets? Well... I think they would only facilitate users to make presets and exchange them. Just a little extra product monger. Especially if it's presets of FX chain.
MSEG morph - awesome!
Thank you!
Sorry for sort of nagging with thoughts and ideas.![]()
Zebra then will certainly have various curves and things to map whatever across the keyboard, but we haven't put these into Zebralette.
Our ModMatrix should be Aux heaven. Each slot has a "via source" that multiplies the input modulation. Then, each depth can be modulated by another slot. Like, ModMatrix slots can modulate each other. Hive does this and I think Vital, too.
With module presets we have to weight the complexity of the overall preset vs. the complexity of the section that's "sub preseted". At the moment I think presets for an FX section with just 2 simple FX isn't exactly important, and with wavetable/envelope curve export/import there's no need to also make extra presets for the surrounding Osc/MSEG module. Anyway, it's about to come up to NAMM. Wish you a good week

Sorry to be the one to rain on your parade, but I don't think this is what Urs was alluding to. The waveforms in Z3 will be generated in such a manner that is more similar to vector graphics (in Illustrator) vs manipulating data from an audio (data) file e.g. a wavetable, in the way that Photoshop manipulates pixels, in an existing data file. I don't it means that the spline editor will be able to load vector graphic files and convert them into waveforms. I'm happy to be surprised, but I don't think it's the case here.OCTO8R wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2024 10:31 amWow!
