The rules are general, so I assume this one is important when selected plugin is sample based only.FrogsInPants wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 6:46 pm My question is, if sampling the synth in this way is never permitted, to what do the rules refer where they say, "Samplers used must be host samplers or freeware and easily available?" Is there a situation where you would need to record to a sampler to play back once, but couldn't simply bounce the track to audio in the DAW?
In Zebra it may be also parameter called "resolution". For some reason.
What do you mean by "as in separate plugin" here? Are you talking about a plugin that can sequence multiple midi tracks within a DAW? I'd like to have one of those, every time I get one I think will do that, it can only control a single track. I'm probably missing something obvious. (I was using the Sower extension in Reaper to do this, and it worked great! But Reaper for some reason has stopped running stably for me, it keeps crashing now. :/ )PeterBPL wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:33 pmIMO it's a little strange - if you have drums generated by synth, you can just made drum section using DAW the same good (or even better) as in separate plugnRahodees wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 2:09 pm Rules question--while still only using one synth, and while not altering the sound at all, can I use samples from that synth in a separate drum sampler? The point being just to have one place to do all my rhythm sequencing.
It's waveform's free micro drum sampler, so really just basic sequencing, not using it for anything fancy.
This is exactly what I have been trying to figure out how to do. I don't know why it's been so mysterious to me but it has been, unfortunately.FrogsInPants wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:38 pm
I think people who want to sequence their drums together typically send the MIDI from one track to many, filtering the specific notes each instrument track will handle, or have other solutions for routing the input to multiple synth instances.
I mean "(you can) made drum section in DAW as good as in separate plugin". So just use notes the way you normally using in your DAW. If is too time consuming or not very convenient... well, it's your DAW of choice. For me using additional drum sequencers is more time consuming.
In Reaper I use the action
So as long as the result generated by those generators, sequencers, arpeggiators is recorded as MIDI items in DAW (and can be played back without utilizing them any more) - their usage is allowed.Midi plugins are allowed, or sending midi from one Daw to another.
Output from any commercial midi plugins or another DAW should be rendered to midi in the timeline
Well if you can do it in Reaper it's quite easy:Rahodees wrote: Fri Jan 26, 2024 4:56 am

I was using Sower in Reaper to basically handle this for me, but Reaper on my machine has stopped being stable for some reason, so I've switched at least for now to Waveform Free and am back to not having any idea how to do what you described.
DAWs are one of the few things in life that make me actually feel certifiably stupid sometimes lol. But I keep at it.
