I voted, and for those who complained my piece was too short, here is the Bitwig Session with the Grid patch. It will sound correct as soon you hit play or play a note... Then you can listen to it for hours...

I would guess it it was the prefix "trans" if it was truly a programmatic removal.Immanencer wrote: Thu Feb 15, 2024 4:57 pm

But yes, there's something weird about Soundcloud deleting comments now. They seem to be using some sort of AI filter that isn't fit for purpose. My comment about a particular French pioneer's music was deleted several times -- specifically, I stated the JMJ's Equinoxe "was the first music that transported me to another world" and it kept getting deleted. I did some tests of the individual words, and anything with "transported" was deleted, so my guess is that the AI is looking for variations of "trafficking" and is too stupid to consider context.

I picked the DCO-106 because it's where I started, well with VST synths. I have many years experience with MIDI sequencers and hardware keyboards and drum units. This was my first synth VST instrument.
I found it challenging to not be able to use drum sounds (Sitala, EZdrummer 2) I would have gone for to beef up the track. So I ended up focusing more on melodic and harmonic content. That was good for me. I am easily distracted by great ear candy. Half way through I learned how to make some very basic drums from DCO-106. That was totally worth it for me.
I am learning subtractive synthesis while learning how to write and record better. I have several hardware keyboards that would have had everything in one "synth". Great sounds and drums, but I would have been cheating myself out of a good growth experience.

Voted. It was really interesting to see which synths were used. A surprising number of Phase Plants, and only 1 (I think) Synthmaster and 1 Serum. It was good to see a couple of Zebras and a Bazille, but no Diva's. I hope someone with more energy can make a chart! Good luck everyone!
And thanks as always to BJ and Robert.

I hope not, that would be even worse! (transpose, transfer, transpire, translate, etc.)andyrichmond wrote: Fri Feb 16, 2024 1:39 amI would guess it it was the prefix "trans" if it was truly a programmatic removal.Immanencer wrote: Thu Feb 15, 2024 4:57 pm .

In any case, it's annoying. I just spent almost an hour going through 60 SoundCloud pages to see what else has disappeared, after finding two more of my comments missing.

Yes, of course and this is the fun. But last month was such a month were you got more freedom to go crazy, to do more... less stress, more relief... to show what you like, what you work with... this is, how I understood it. And I found it interesting. From my listening and my personal taste I was surprised how well the U-HE synthesizers performed. Phaseplant was probably my second best bet.emikaela wrote: Thu Feb 15, 2024 5:18 pm i don't understand this sentiment at all. surely the main point of this whole thing is the challenge of working within restrictions?
I personally love Vital because of the easy interface and Surge XT because of the pure power and amount of functionality (both are even free), but I found out, that they sound a bit thinner in comparison to others.
So this month was a special event for me and it was a good one. Hope you understand my thoughts a bit better now.
Regards.

Oh god, I just realized since i own like 5 juno emulations I could have gone through them all to find drum presets for ideas on how to do better drums and used that knowledge for creating patches in Jun-6. Would have made my life much easier.

Having tried the actual hardware route this month, I can understand why there weren't many (any?) other hardware entries!

Most of my hardware, synths and many multi-fx boxes, mixers, audio->midi, midi-horn etc are now consigned to the attic. Came out for the hardware round.empphryio wrote: Fri Feb 16, 2024 3:41 pm I guess people using free software aren't much into hardware.
Just a few things like DGX and Oxygens for playing an/or fx twiddling.
