Yeah, nobody seems to have them anymore. Too bad, because I learned a lot about effective FM patch creation by analyzing the AFM presets.Uncle E wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:08 am Oof, I didn't know that. I guess that means all my SY99 internal patches are gone.

I've been at this page many times, but somehow I missed it. Thanks

Beyond DX7 capabilities. 3 videos of audio above showcase exclusively many SY77's possible advanced FM spectra.

I cannot wait to use SWAY for the very first time! I believe this VST will be big, very big. Most folks who have owned or played an SY77/99 know what I mean. I remember listening to Chick Corea's Beneath the Mask CD for the first time and realized that one of the SY99 demo songs had a snippet of his tune from that album called, 99 Flavors...how appropriate was that title?? Thank you, Sheaf, for making this VST...

https://gospelmusicians.com/products/tgx99 (https://gospelmusicians.com/products/tgx99)TGX-99 by Gospelmusicians states:
"You get access to the raw waveforms, so that you can re-create some of your favorite presets."
In the following thread (viewtopic.php?t=431747&start=15), gospelmusicians implies they received permission from Yamaha to resell audio recordings from the SY-77/99, which seemingly includes the sampled waveforms.
Can you not ask Yamaha for permission to include SY77/99 sampled waveforms in SWAY? Or am I misinterpreting what gospelmusicians did with their product?

They implied it, but were not forthcoming on any details, so I have my suspicions about that, personally. The reason I asked was that I was interested in the approach they (supposedly) made to Yamaha, because they are a massive corporation and getting *anything* done with permission is a slow process, because I was considering doing something similar. Their responses, including that one word "Yes" didn't fill me me confidence that they *actually* did - I'm not saying one way or another what they did, or didn't, get permission for, or how, but their responses left me with the impression that they were being weasily about it and fobbing off any copyright concerns, and drew my own conclusions. There's no official endorsement disclaimers in the actual product either, that I could see, and nothing on the product web pages that states this was done with the permission of Yamaha, which you would expect under such circumstances.cheds wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2024 12:24 pm In the following thread (viewtopic.php?t=431747&start=15), gospelmusicians implies they received permission from Yamaha to resell audio recordings from the SY-77/99, which seemingly includes the sampled waveforms.

However, I'm pretty sure Manny said he had contacted sheaf, and he's likely as good a way as any to suggest a possible path of official endorsement or permission, as he works for and with Yamaha sound development. But knowing a little of how Yamaha operates, likely the way sheaf is already going about this is probably the best way, imo.

The price of TGX-99 is listed as $226.04. To seemingly sidestep copyright concerns like that... well, it makes me feel quite naive. Beyond that, it seems like a popular, and well made product.
For a similar product, the UVI Emulation II+ product page states:
"...you get an exhaustive collection of officially licensed presets from the exclusive OMI libraries “Universe of Sounds” volumes 1 and 2."
A path to official endorsement or permission would be cool, even post-launch.

I have used most of Gospel Musician's products. While I have enjoyed the overall ease of pre-programmed sampled sounds, the spirit of the instrument is evident, but they are not without limitation. With that said, there is definitely a need for a full-fledged FM/Sample programmable playback machine which SWAY will provide. Many VST developers have produced various FM-based synths (NI; Arturia; etc); but didn't expand past the DX-7 design. Anyone who has played a SY/TG-77 or SY-99 should be excited by this SWAY venture.

I can’t wait for this to be out. Would be interested to be part of the beta testers. Also I hope this gets AU version because I’m only using mac for now. This plugin will model a very capable synth from Yamaha, many of us grew up wishing if we had an SY77 or SY99. It’s an important piece of history that we should preserve. Kudos to the developer working on this.

Please make VST2 version for Windows 7 and old versions of Cubase!
I have an old machine running Vector Sector, SQ8L, Komplexer and that kind of stuff - this plugin would fit perfectly.

I don't think you can commercially make or release new VST2 plugins any more, due to Steinberg's discontinuation of the VST2 development kit license.frag wrote: Sun Jul 07, 2024 9:25 am Please make VST2 version for Windows 7 and old versions of Cubase!

As you already know, that route is gone. You might consider a bridge app that allows you to open 32bit apps and VST2 apps. Another option is to encourage CLAP creation.frag wrote: Sun Jul 07, 2024 9:25 am Please make VST2 version for Windows 7 and old versions of Cubase!
