plugin very good, no need to wait out of beta, buy now :?
Nah, I’ll wait. It’s no use to me in beta.
I’ve had too many bad experiences with indie devs wandering off into the wilderness and leaving products unfinished.
It is "finished" but not released.

Andy is a perfectionist. I'm 99%+ confident that The Scream is in better coding shape than the majority of plugins out there being sold, including many you probably have.
Andy will release it when it’s finished. Until then, it’s not ready.
I’ll wait until Andy decides it’s ready. It’s really up to him.

The preview of the manual is here and it's already very detailed: https://cytomic.com/files/TheScream-Manual.pdf

FWIW, I bought The Scream way back in 2017 and it's worked perfectly with no issues. This is already a solid product even if Andy hasn't finished every last detail to his exacting standards.

It works fine for me.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

The manual is very near completion. I want to add references and take on board feedback from everyone that is interested in providing it. You can read the updated manual here:

https://cytomic.com/files/TheScream-Manual.pdf

I've included a detailed description of the functional filtering and drive done in each section of the schematic. This is not intended as an introduction to circuit theory, or circuit modelling, but instead to enable more informed exploration of variations and customisations of the circuit in a practical way for technically minded musicians.

Figure 22 should be above the Oversampling section.

The figures are auto placed by pandoc / latex, so please just scroll to view the figures as required.

I meant that the figure 22 picture (schematic edit) is in the middle of the oversampling section.

Please try refreshing the pdf. The placement of figures is done automatically, so the figure can be in on a different page to the text that refers to it, and will be sometimes grouped on an all figures page.

For reference here is the markdown text the pdf is generated from:

Code: Select all

## Schematic View {#schematic-view}

To aid in editing component values a full schematic view is available by clicking on the diode button in the top right corner of the user interface. The user interface expands as shown in [@fig:ui-schematic].

![Schematic View](screenshots/scream-ui-schematic.png){#fig:ui-schematic}

 When additional component values or parameters are available for editing the name of the component will appear in bold when the mouse is over it. When the component is clicked on a list of available component value and parameters is shown, and example of this is shown in [@fig:ui-schematic-edit], which appears when you click on D101 or D102, then main clipping diodes. Numbers can be edited by clicking on the existing value and entering a new number. Stereo values can be entered by separating the left and right values with a comma ','.

![Schematic Value Editing](screenshots/scream-ui-schematic-edit.png){#fig:ui-schematic-edit}

Basic expressions can also be entered, for example to enter one third of an existing value you can enter `/3` after the value. So to divide the value `10k` (then thousand) by three, you can enter `10k/3` which will result in a value of `3.33k`.

Each value changed can be undone and redone by using the variation explorer bar in the [**Mods Panel**](#mods-panel) and [**Rand Panel**](#rand-panel).

# Oversampling {#oversampling}

All Cytomic products allow users to select the desired oversampling amounts. If you're unsure about what to select stick with these defaults:

  - For the lowest cpu, switch Realtime and Render oversampling to Off
  - For excellent quality results set Realtime to x2 and Render to x8, these are the default multipliers

Refresh did the trick.

As more or less content is added above the figures they can be automatically re-arranged to make the best use of space, so if the figure moves again this is why.

Page 9 says “There are also businesses involved in located vintage op-amp chips…”

Seems like ‘located’ should be ‘locating’

Thanks, fixed! Please can every one email me directly with further minor corrections like this?

andy@cytomic.com

It makes for very dull reading on the forum otherwise.

News: The Scream is finally out of beta and has a full manual, presets, and final diode library. I've also added some useful mod slot utilities, like being able to load from a presets mod slot to the current mod slot, initialise the current mod slot, and swap mod slots.

I'm working on audio demos, tutorial videos, and getting some reviews done. If anyone finds any bugs or issues please email support@cytomic.com , and then post on a forum if you want to share the issue with others, but support will not be conducted on forums, only news updates about fixes etc.

Congratulations Andy :party:
Seven and a half years since the first announcement - your attention to detail is appreciated by many of us, I'm sure :)
