Didn't you read EvilDragon's message above? Or didn't you understand it?
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Yes, but now it's becoming really interesting.EvilDragon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 11:14 pm This calls for a separate thread, let's not go offtopic here.
I hope Sheaf is "amused" by the posts, while he's working on the synth

Interesting system - no wonder Jarre is French. And Arturia.
THEORETICALLY, there may be a way to have low latency drivers in all virtual machines. You would need Windows Server and a motherboard with at least 6 free PCI slots. Then you can passthrough PCI slots directly to VMs and attach PCI sound card or PCI USB interface, in order to attach sound card via USB adapter (card must have drivers for corresponding OS, such as XP, so it's almost impossible to avoid used components).
I suppose some servers have lots of PCI slots, but this would be too bulky/expensive for home use. For a studio, why not.

i guess SWAY would be at first times a VST3... i don't like VST3 because it is messy in the PC but i'll do with.
Hope it should be then VST2 compatible, as many VSTi are : installer offers VST2, VST3, AU...
Then, Sys.ex will be implemented but only for deal with the hardware SY/TG77.
but i hope i will can do manual copying parameters of some patches, using "SoundDiver" to read and manually input each parameter... This will be long days works.
Hoping that, after, direct sys.ex will be implemented directly in the software plugin ( after somme updates )
So excited too !
i poster many demands years ago for SY/TG77 Yamaha VSTi... ( in Audiofanzine, and so on... )
and in 2024 here it will be : All my real synths as VSTi !

9 months... this is the time taken by GOOGLE to implement new things.
i use to google "SY77 + VSTi" 2 times a week, since maybe 15 years... ( 2007 april 9th )
https://fr.audiofanzine.com/rack-numeri ... i,p.3.html
the first submit in KVR was in january 2024,
and TODAY monday 16 sept 2024 i found SWAY in Google ! ....9 months !!!
i believe i am dreaming, but i AM seeing video demos with wrote "Yamaha TG77 tone generator" and "SY77 emulation".
didn't smoke anything, this is real i am awake !

My apologyzes :
i missed that Sys.ex will be effectivily used to load the patch into the VST himself !
this will be awesome.
Here is one of my compo in this video : all tracks music and sounds effects are played by TG77

One question to Sheaf, about polyphonie :
i guess the VSTi will not have the 16 voices limitation of hardware, so that if a patch uses 4 elements ( i.e. 4 AFM, or 2 AFM + 2 AWM ), we can play it with as many voices as the CPU can handle
That will be... new and very good
( with the hardware, a 4 elements patch has only 4 voices polyphonie )

Thanks to everyone involved for getting this back on track, and keeping this thread about SWAY.
I would expect there will have to be some kind of voice count limitation. The developer has indicated that this will be as close to the hardware as possible, so I would also expect that the plugin will have the same limitation. I agree that this could be great to have, but then we start getting into the rabbit hole of additional features. I've been there with my own projects.
You (and I, and everyone else) can simply run multiple instances for additional polyphony, naturally

I just cannot wait to see the Sway GUI in all its glory. VST manufacturers have done a great job bringing us so many of our favorite instruments into the virtual realm, but Sway will be different because most folks would love to see this type of synthesis in its digital form (which the physical instrument truly is anyway).

I'd like to see all the nicer digital synths replicated as VST plugins eventually.Caesarg86 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 2:30 am I just cannot wait to see the Sway GUI in all its glory. I'm asking for a hard no on any "upgrades" (eg voice count), or a new "settings" page, or anything that would extend development time and effort and potentially cause patch incompatibility. I would love to see this recreated as-is, warts/limitations and all. Then, if there's demand, upgrades could be carefully considered, added, and tested and so forth.

It's not that difficult to increase polyphony in DAW. If the plugin can't do x voices, or crackles due to thread overload, you simply load multiple instances of the same plugin with same patch and split voices into two or more parts. Yes, it's a couple of more clicks but not that difficult. Strong CPU with lots of threads removes polyphony limitations - if you run out of voices on 16+ threads you're probably just making incomprehensible noise.

The best, is that Sheaf focuses on the main core of saving SY/TG77 : patches themseleves, so that SYS.EX patches will sound , individually, the most exactly possible, by ear, as when they are loaded into the hardware SY/TG77.
it's easy to plug any VST reverb, ( even I.R. impulse response if wanted ). ( this is what i do now with my real TG77 bypassed internal reverb, inputed into Beringer ADAT into CUBASE. )
Then, after a first public release of SWAY for patches, he could updates for adding effects, voices count or not, focusing on 1:1 original glitches and bugs of Yamaha original circuits, ...
The GUI is much much better than "SoundDiver" Atari software !
