Thestrals drive my DAW, though I have to admit I've never actually seen them do it. I suspect they probably play with my keyboards when I'm not around too

I can't imagine anymore to work on a machine that has a fixed location somewhere in a room. Twenty years ago it was a completely normal thing for me, but nowadays... that's like having to use a conventional landline instead of my cellphone.

Desktop PC, because I work form home and I have no need to move for now but If I needed a laptop I would probably get a Macbook air, I have seen so many windows laptops with random problems that affect a DAW running smoothly that I would prefer going the easy route.

Everything connected to it is in a fixed location too. Carefully placed for max convenience. I'm not going to grab all my instruments and walk from room to room.jens wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2024 11:09 pm I can't imagine anymore to work on a machine that has a fixed location somewhere in a room. I have a TB-dock in my studio where I can connect the audio-interface, power-supply, additional drive, yadda yadda with a single plug - and there's several dozen instruments there.seafire wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2024 9:13 amEverything connected to it is in a fixed location too. But I have my Laptop almost always with me - at work, when I wait in a cafe for our oldest while he's got acting classes, while he's got his swimming course, on holiday - and I can do a lot during that time. And during summer holidays we're normally visiting the wife's family in Spain, so I pack a mic (with a table-stand), an electric and an interface and so can put some quality time to good use there.
Laptop it is.

My Current setup:THE INTRANCER wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2024 7:41 pm What do you primary use for driving your DAW?
Additional questions:
If you use a laptop, what is the specification of it and why did you choose it?
If you use a desktop, what is the specification of it, be that pre-built (from a retailer) or one custom built yourself?
Windows 11 Desktop with A I7 12700KF, 64 GB of Ram, 2 M.2 Drives one with 2TB Storage and one with 4TB Storage.
Graphic Card Asus Radeon RX 6700 XT.
Motherboard Asrock B760M Pro RS/D4.
PSU Corsair RM750x.
What Is your Setup?
Maybe you should start with that when you want to start a discussion about it
