Any way to still get LinPlug Spectral?

Nice. Thanks for pointing me to Spectral - runs flawlessly on my Intel Mac. It's just that the window is rather small and the preset list with the dark-grey letters on light-black ground is hard to read (I'm using the dark OS theme).
Great memories to the time over 10 years ago when I did some factory sounds for this plug-in, good to listen back to them now.

It has great resizing options - still looks perfect on my StudioDisplayHiEnergy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 7:18 am Nice. Thanks for pointing me to Spectral - runs flawlessly on my Intel Mac. The large screen size option works nicely. Thanks for pointing me to it.
Now I'd just need a way to fix the low contrast texts. Black lettering on a dark grey gradient is as hard to read as it gets. Wish the letters were white or the gradients were light/medium grey.

What a shame it was that they shuttered their doors and nobody picked up their stuff. Wasn’t it just one guy? I had licenses for pretty much all of their products.

I have them all exported to NKS so manage them in the Komplete Kontrol browserHiEnergy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 7:52 amThe large screen size option works nicely. Thanks for pointing me to it.

I have CRX4 and some vision issues. The text on green background was unreadable to me, so I went into the Resources folder and replaced the green background gif with a different color. I think I opened the old one after renaming it and just did a fill on it with the new color and saved it to the original name. It's been a while...HiEnergy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 7:52 amThe large screen size option works nicely. Thanks for pointing me to it.

But I can read it quite well now.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Why could they not have released the code? Seems almost unconscionable to just up and leave and abandon some things.
Anyway, I just asked this on another thread, but how does Spectral compare with Parsec? The two appear fairly close in attributes, yes?

They often don't release code to avoid problems with many who BOUGHT the plug right before code is released, they come at them wanting money back or a deep discount... Others who bought earlier frown upon the release because their 'investment' is now worthless...
BTW numerous Spectral addon Packs required serialization as well...

That seems kind of silly an expectation if the company has closed. Caveat emptor, too, right? What do they do? Line up in front of an empty building with their laptops and occasionally peer in through the windows? If one has the synth they paid for, they still have it... and maybe can use it... for awhile longer, anyway... Consider also, depreciation. When you purchase many things, they naturally depreciate.eLawnMust wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 3:09 am They often don't release code to avoid problems with many who BOUGHT the plug right before code is released, they come at them wanting money back or a deep discount... In any case, and thankfully, these days we have more 'awesome-sick' (minus any other adjective) free/open source software to choose from-- and a tip-of-the-hat to those devs.

Same here with Alchemy. Everything lost when a HD storage failed. I can use Alchemy Player but it's buggy and old. Also did not keep the auth files for all the soundbanks I bought, so only 2 work.
But at least it wasn't like NI Pro-53 which I deleted because no more development. That one maybe didn't authorize anymore because I remember having Intakt and Kore and they all stopped working.

I felt similarly. Nothing really bad about it, but nothing exciting, either.

I don’t know Parsec but my spectral itch has been scratched with the truly sublime Thorn.
There is something even more appealing in the spectral engine in Thorn to my ears.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but IIRC Linplug sold up to Propellerheads (Reason Studios)
Spectral -> Europa
CrX4 -> Grain

I looked into Europa and it doesn't seem or sound all that similar. Europa's a wavetable synth, too, yes?, if kind of different than a 'normal' wavetable perhaps.
