BONES wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 1:23 am Have a look on eBay, you'll get something there, either new or refurbished (old stock) for a lot less, often with a full warranty.
At least here in Europe that normally doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, because for some reason people (even shops) tend to set the price based on what they once paid for it. ("But but but it's an i7" :dog:).

Best vfm here usually is a model that's something like nine (or so) months old (i.e. right after its first significant price drop.

Oh, and of course rather a gaming laptop than a business model or so - unless you want a touchscreen, that is...

edit: oh, and look at the manufacturers' own online-shops for deals.

Was really considering buying an ASUS TUF laptop because the spec was really tempting, but I'm glad I didn't after having a good look as some pictures and comparing them with my own laptop which has fallen off my table so many times I've lost count and with no issues. Checked out reddit which has people documenting problems with ASUS TUF laptop hinges.

How the f**k does your laptop fall off the f**king table? Are you a moron or something? I had mine fall off the keyboard stand on a really bouncy stage earlier this year but at home, FFS? For the record, it's an Asus RoG machine and it fell around 1.2m without even the slightest cosmetic damage. It stopped playing because the cables were ripped out but as soon as I plugged them back in, it picked up exactly where it had left off.

Maybe his table isn't flat?

I assume it’s because every time someone replies to one of his threads he jumps out of his chair, starts dancing around, and trips over the PSU cable.

Oh crap, I just made him do it again! :dog:

I'm not impulsively reactive to people posting or replying to my threads like BONES :-), I'll read them, good or bad, and although I'm in my mid 40's now, I can probably still dance like John Travolta whilst simultaneously moon walking like Michael Jackson still. That could be the reason why my laptop keeps falling off the table

A f**king boat? Did you mean fishing boat, or is it a super sexy dingy?
How original

I have a very strict policy of only shitting on company time and I work in a very modern building with flushable porcelain toilets. It's bit tricky now that I only work two days a week but I manage.

Always been a desktop for me. This whole thing of being hunched over a monitor/keyboard combo for the sake of portability was never very enticing. What if you use a big MIDI keyboard and some guitars? Are you gonna lug them up to the top of Ben Nevis in the lashing rain just to make some pointless 'boom tssch, boom tssch' that nobody's ever gonna listen to? Don't be ridonkulous. Sit in a mancave with a real computer like the rest of us house-dwelling delusionals.

Moved from an i7 desktop (Mac mini) to an M1 MacBook Air. The performance is marginally better, but oh the silence is golden. Gone are the days of a dedicated computer room where I used to keep my windows PCs (VEP machines anyone?).
