He already mentioned it on Reddit a year ago. More recently he said he's been working on it for 5 years. He's always vague about possible release times so I have no expectations about when it'll finally be available.adl wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 3:16 pm Yes. But it's the first official confirmation that he's working on it and it's actually somewhat close to release. Or has that been stated previously so clearly?
Serum 2 is in the works, DMG Audio is also involved!

When it's ready is the best way to have the best product possible. There are already lots of synth, we don't need another one, but a good one. He knows and i'm 100% sure Serum 2 will be close to perfection.

If there aren't any major bugs then I'm pretty confident that almost everyone would prefer it if he just released it now. Even as a paid "open beta" if he wants to call it that. Especially if that involves a sale for the first time since Serum's release.FTsounds wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 9:20 pm When it's ready is the best way to have the best product possible. It's been mentioned before so it will probably make it into the release.figgs wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 9:33 pm Speculation time - I hope there's some sort of Serum 1 preset import/compatibility so a lot of work already done isn't gone to waste

Serum was all about user experience. Phase plant lacks it as it is modular.

My guess is, given rumors from years back, something between Serum and Plasmonic, ditching anything granular or any analog emulation. Refined, but recognicable interface, maybe more modulators, envelope followers are all the rage, maybe some MIDI stuff like arps or sequencers, but may that would overload it too much.

Think about this.....Serum is still one of, if not the most widely used synth in EDM, Dubstep, DNB.....so on. That's because it is really good, and very capable of things other synths still cant do (wave table editor).
Serum 2 is going to be superb

Modern synths have had ample opportunity to ‘borrow’ from Serum’s UX and GUI, yet it still stands head & shoulders above a lot of the competition. It must be difficult to improve upon a masterpiece, but if anyone can do it, it’s Mr. Duda; a visionary & gentleman.
Can’t wait to Dudafunk using Serum 2.

I really hope that my life won't change that much that I won't need any new synthesizers until the release of Serum and Zebra. Damn, the development of these synthesizers takes decades.

Well, what he said means that it is ready for release, they are just waiting for the holidays to end, they don't want to work during the holidays. In the first few weeks after release they will be overloaded with customer support/web-site technical issues/bug-fixing. So, probably mid-late January/early February.

i hope and think the focus for serum 2 is not about features, but more about how they are implemented and can be integrated in a good workflow. serum was always about ease of use for me.
im happy about xfer, they feel like a plugin company driven by heart, and not primarily by financial reasons. thats why i have no impatience here at all.

I hope they take some cues from Massive X myself with respect to the integration of effects and non linear modelling.
