Hi all,
Here's a little teaser for our NAMM presentation next week:
So this is Work in Progress. It doesn't have all the modules yet (but it does have all those which took a very long time to develop). And of those modules that are here, not all parameters are polished yet. We are however in a phase where it's actually usable, and that is what's needed to polish things.
This is also by no means the final UI. It's maybe 80% there, but e.g. the fancy background pattern was just thrown in there to have something nicer than just a plain black-ish background.
I'll elaborate a bit more as I find the time to, and maybe I manage to post more screenshots. I think I'll have the first set of presentations next Thursday, and that's when maybe some videos might pop up. And then I'll be happy to answer questions here. Depends on how stressed I am, jet lag, and all that.
In any case I'm very excited.
See you there, or online here, later.

I guess it's a good thing the UI isn't much different making it easy to transition from 2 to 3. I'm excited to hear it.

I'm actually surprised by how much it looks like the existing Zebra especially considering how different Zebralette3 looks from Zebralette. It's not bad just surprising. I am a bit relieved that it will still be somewhat familiar. I rather like the Zebra workflow.

So Filters... at the moment we have 4 Models with 12 responses each... basically what amounts to 48 algorithms. One model is called "Linear", and it's just a plain filter without any distortion. The other models are similar to and named after Z2's original filters: Xcite, MidDrive and OldDrive. Each of those comes in 6/12/18/24 dB Lowpass, 6/12/18/24 dB Highpass and 4 Bandpass variants. Unlike Z2 filters they are suited for audio rate modulation (FilterFM).Dalle wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:37 pm NiceI’m most curious about the filters, anything that can be shared about them yet?
By the time of release we hope to have at least two more Diva style filters, I guess SEM-ish and Moog-ish, with at least one, possibly two types of LP, HP, BP response each.
The whole thing is about how to navigate types and responses. This can easily grow to 100+ algorithms at some point, and we created UI elements, meta data and stuff to keep this accessible without having to search sub menus or anything. It works similar to a good old colour picker, but for filter types. One can quickly compare different responses or different characters without getting lost in choices.

Yes, it's deliberately not much change in concept.GruvSyco wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 10:05 pm I'm actually surprised by how much it looks like the existing Zebra especially considering how different Zebralette3 looks from Zebralette. There are substantial improvements to workflow though. The work on UI is possibly as much effort as the work on DSP.
For example, the modules in the bottom tab always have all relevant ModMatrix Slots displayed next to them. Oscillators have those which modulate that oscillator, ModMappers have those which they modulate and MSEGs have both those that modulate them or other modules. This is super dynamic and removes the need for tabbing back and forth as in Z2.
Because of this we try to drop a lot of the lesser commonly used direct modulation slots in modules. This way we get more modules and less tabbing into the racks on the top.
In the main Grid one can select multiple modules now. This automatically hides all unselected modules form the rack on the left, and inn turn modulators on the right. Those multiple sections can be saved above the Grid and recalled quickly.
The subtle looking [+] next to the bottom tab selectors opens a list of all modulators along the right side of the UI. This can be used like ModSelectors in Hive, such that one can drag modulators onto knobs to create new ModMatrix slots (currently max 32 slots, we'll see how far we get with these).
Like the filters, the main Grid also has a colour-picker style pop up panel which contains all the modules available, categorised and prettier than the old drop down menu. The menu is still there, too, if people prefer it.
There's probably tons more, but I'm jet lagging my head off here in LA...
