Survey on Analog and Digital Synthesizers for a Bachelor Thesis

I am currently conducting an online survey for my Bachelor's thesis on the topic:

"How do analog and digital synthesizers influence the perception of authenticity in music production?"

We are looking for producers in the genres Techno, Progressive Trance, and Psytrance who have at least 3 years of experience working with these devices.

Likewise done. TBH I don't really understand the use of "authentic" for digital/analogue synths. It's not real because it's digital? Despite mostly preferring analogues, I've never seen digital synths as any less real, going back 30+ years.

- brass sound of an anlog is more authentic than digital brass sound?

Analog is reference, and is obviously authentic!!!!!

Only Academia can complicate simple things this much.

Authenticity may be found in everything else but the used synthesizers: composition, instrumentation, arrangement, production, vocals, etc etc.

Whether the whole product is authentic or not, to me the sign is: do I sense the whole heart & soul was put into it. I don't think it matters whether the synths, effects or anything else used for producing it are real/analog or virtual/digital.

Only bad craftsmen blame their tools.
And a fool with a tool is still a fool.

I filled out the survey. I think that tools do have an impact on the way we express ourselves. I don't have much to say about authenticity, as I don't think that comes from the tool. It's up to the artist to express themself authentically (or choose not to, as it's own form of artistic expression) with whichever instruments they use.

Authenticity is also something that is observed/perceived by the listener and informed by their own biases. That's just not something I put much thought into when I'm creating music.
