That's a sensible idea. How can we contribute?

Indeed pretty great price, very very good condition. You will probably need to replace the LCD!

starting to think about putting mine up for sale as well. was using an editor more than the LCD, but would look a lot nicer with a new one.

DON'T DO THAT before having real news from Sheaf himself here . . .

Starting to believe that Sheaf's lack of updates on Sway here and on his website may be a sign that he may have been contacted by the mothership about producing this amazing instrument in VST form. Seems odd that communication has seized on his end...but who knows. Maybe, he still trying to work on the presets...or the effects? Let's keep our fingers crossed that he doing ok, otherwise.

Doubtful that Yamaha would care or even be able to do anything about it if they didCaesarg86 wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 1:00 pm Starting to believe that Sheaf's lack of updates on Sway here and on his website may be a sign that he may have been contacted by the mothership about producing this amazing instrument in VST form. I am not a lawyer, but look at all the DX7 software clones available that run DX7 Sysex. Plogue's OPS7 even advertises itself as being a bit accurate reproduction of a DX7 in software form right down to reverse engineering the actual custom Yamaha ICs. You even select what firmware revisions you want to run
Stanford's patent on John Chowning's FM Synthesis method is long since expired, as would be any patents Yamaha would have had on anything SY/TG77 related
Yamaha would still retain copyrights on the samples used in it but SWAY was not going to use them, and he was reverse engineering the effects and not using the original code
Yamaha seems to have zero interest in remaking a DX7 or SY77 or they would have done it. With FM-X inside of Montage their flagship hardware synth they don't even have the SY FM waveforms, they did however put them inside of FM-X in the HALion7 plugin, but even then FM-X can't do the same as SY77/SY99

I'm not doing too good actually. I have a pinched nerve somewhere in my upper trunk that causes radiating pain down my right arm. This severely limits my ability to work at the computer right now.Caesarg86 wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 1:00 pm Let's keep our fingers crossed that he doing ok, otherwise.
It's been going since the beginning of the year actually, so it's been almost 3 months now. If this really turns into a chronic problem I'll just have to find a way to release the project in its current state. Half of the samples are still missing though, and no presets. Doesn't make a lot of sense to release it like that, but I don't know.
I guess I still hope it somehow heals soon so I can resume work at a normal pace and properly release a polished project.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Sheaf – not because of Sway (there are hundreds of VI synths out there and if anyone NEEDS those particular sounds, the h/w is apparently available for reasonable money).
The important issue here is your health. That should be the obvious first priority.
Perhaps you have worked the mouse and keyboard too intensely and that may well be the casue of your nerve pains.
First rule is of course to stop doing what might be causing the nerve to object!
Second, I'd recommend you consult a good physiotherapist who could teach you gentle exercises and massage to see if that will help. Don't just wait for it to go away by itself – get some proper medical help!
Kind regrads, /JHS

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I feel for you, because I started to have similar things at the beginning of last year, and then again in the later part of the year, and it killed my productivity for *months* at a time. I'm only really starting to be able to sit down and work in the past month or so. Mine was really weird, most of the right side of my body went crazy and it was super painful and uncomfortable, and I wasn't really able to stand, or sit down much at all for longer than a few minutes. I'm kinda learning to manage it, to stretch my back out, and recognise when I need to get up or go lie down to not continue to stress the pinched nerves and make it worse, and hopefully I'm mostly on the other side of it as long as I manage it...sheaf wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 4:09 pm I'm not doing too good actually. I just realised that instead of being frustrated, I just had to let things go and not beat myself up about not being able to do stuff, and just kinda let it work itself out, and help that process as best I could. So yeah, I know how much it sucks, but if work has got to wait for health reasons, people will understand.

Oooh, Sheaf....
Very thank you to bring us some news from you. Hope you will get better with the better days season, and i did guess about something like that. Wish you better things to your arm and pains... Of course this is the priority.
( i could share my own presets if needed, and sys.ex will do the next, or even re-programming manually from parameters, and or-g-nal r*ms, the 2nd next... )

Half of the samples are still missing though, and no presets. Doesn't make a lot of sense to release it like that
...if This is the only thing missing, it would makes sense that we could test as an alpha release, and we'll deal with sys.ex or even manual parameters copying from SY/TG patches
( You could make some nominative watermark in each file, date and email of the alpha-beta-tester, if this is easy to automatize this implement. I.A. supply for code ?
so that you keep some symbolic control of your creation
)
May the force be with you , Sheaf.
