“Exit This Way” is a jazz piece featuring piano, NS Chapman Stick, LinnStrument (alto sax), and Zendrum. The challenge in recording a virtual band is deciding who plays first. Typically, I start with the piano and occasionally the drums. This time, I recorded the alto sax part first, which helped tie the song together with a melody that repeats.

I think that is an interesting tune.. I will admit I looked up LinnStrument thinking that they were some kind of sample pack

Thanks for listening! I used Audio Modeling’s Alto Sax for the sound.

jcub,
Definitely very jazzy. A bit chaotic, but that's how jazz often goes; though it also contains elements of the high quality vibe that jazz often contains. Nice audio quality. My favorite parts was the piano playing and tone. The alto sax sounds real. Nice recording and song; it made more sense to me on the second listen. Perhaps you can check out my most recent thread.

Cool track jcub! I like how the lines interweave around each other.
Great bass! I would have like the sax to be a bit louder...
Nice piano "solo".
Well done!

You write very creative music! This jazzy thing is above the typical standard. Very chromatic jazz. But there is some order to the chaos.

The opening motif/theme starts off to capture the listener and can be hard repeating throughout, even at the end the sax returns to that motif but the piano is off doing it's own thing. Good name for the piece. I probably would have called it "Exit the Way - Off the Beaten Path"

Thank you! These pieces are interesting exercises in improvisation. My Chapman Stick teacher, the late great Greg Howard, gave me a great tip when it comes to improvising: try to find a theme that you can bring the listener back to in between the more “chaotic” sections.

A beautiful jazz song. Typical jazz brush drums with a very accentuated bass,
piano, and saxophone intertwine to create a relaxed, entertaining instrumental.

It's astonishing how expressively and articulately you play the saxophone here.
Whether virtual or not, it's brilliantly done. :tu:

Thanks, enroe! I appreciate the kind words. The sax is from Audio Modeling and played on the LinnStrument which is a great MIDI controller for expressive playing.
