No worries at all, what you said was fine, I just thought it was worth clarifying!

no biggie in the least. I see - for me personally it was quite a simple choice as amongst thsse 30 plugins there were EXACTLY ten I did not own yet. :-D

And yes, it's a really good deal and even more so when purchasing directly from Universal Audio and using a 25$ voucher... :-D

I've always wondered if I don't understand what people mean when they say "transparent", or if everybody has their own definition of what it means. I always assumed it meant "does its job without coloring the sound", like a compressor or EQ that cleans things up without really altering how something sounds to the human ear. But then I see people describing saturation and distortion units as "transparent" and then think I have no idea what it means. I assume when I hear people use it to describe a reverb, they mean it sounds "clean"? I really should make a thread in the beginner's forum one of these days...

Post

I suppose they mean little or no aliasing--but I agree that doesn't fit how "transparent" is used generally with plugins.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Maybe start with one of the BFD Player expansions? Those are $9 right now. The NI Abbey Road Drummers are indeed great, so maybe avoid the London kits. ;)

Complete POS these days since it's owned and maintained by a company that painfully obviously could not possibly care less - my advice is to avoid it at all costs.

You have been warned.

Doesn't that warning apply to more or less all software companies with more than perhaps ten people employed?

Nope, not at all.

The way that BFD has become a buggy POS with minimal hope of bugs getting fixed in due time - if at all - is quite specific and my respective warning is not at all meant as an invitation to badmouth other companies.

But let me add the following just to make myself clear:

without the recent
3.5 update I would most probably be all over this current deal and I see these all-time-low prices as an admission by them that they now have given up once and for all.

A few months ago they came out with an update that rendered the (already somewhat whacky) plugin basically unuseable for many users - without the (official) possibilty to revert to the previous installation. They by the way did not change the quite unpopular license registration issue at all, that the plugin needs to be re-registered every six months, so with a trust-worthy company like that...

as I said: avoid!

inMusic/BFD never fixed the long loading time issue discussed at the end of this thread - viewtopic.php?p=9060267?
