Yeah, but then it will cost around 100 €. Not sure if it is worth the money. Other classic synth like the KORG M1 can be bought at sale for like 50 bucks.

Yep, on sale now

I entered my password and it said my subscription is not active. What the hell, I go and check to make sure it is, was about to email support, but tried again to enter my credentials. This time it worked. I was off by one capital letter on my password. So why do they tell you your subscription is not active when its a wrong password!

I just tried to load XV-5080 and it asked for my password to authorize it, so I did, and it said my authorization is no longer active. :x

Oh well, guess I have to uninstall/reinstall RCM yet again...

Or maybe you used the wrong password. You'll never know because it only tells you that your authorization is not active either way!

Post

Yep, but I double-checked it and it was correct.
It worked after an uninstall/reinstall of RCM.

They don't respond to midi Bank/Program change messages from hardware, their preset "Inc / Dec" buttons don't have a Midi learn option, and the native Roland preset file format isn't recognized by my DAWs (Studio One 3 and MPC Software 2.0).

Mouse clicking the "Inc / Dec" buttons on the VST GUI seems to be the only way to change presets. Am I missing something?
Im looking for the mechanism to map my MIDI controller to Program Change on Zenology Pro. Is there MIDI mapping for Zenology Program Change commands? Or.. is it going to be necessary to have a connected laptop/computer with a mouse, in order to change patches, and only through the Zenology browser?

Yes you need a mouse

Post

I'm not sure if it has changed since 2021, but here is Brian from RC mentioning info about it:

https://forums.rolandclan.com/viewtopic.php?t=61744

"At this time, the MIDI Program Change is unavailable for the instruments of The Roland Cloud Collection. I can add this to our weekly feature request list if you'd like."

Thanks. Was afraid of that.

Serious miss then. This has been a non-feature in Zenology for years.

Program Change has been a PITA with other Roland gear Ive had/used... FA06, JD-XA, .. Not straight forward, but there have been ways around it. I am quite surprised that basic functionality like this, has not been prioritized by the dev teams at Roland. It seriously cripples ease of use during live play.

I have never tried it but you can use software like BOME to turn regular MIDI data into mouse movements, should be fairly simple to do that with the Roland Cloud stuff for studio use

For live play at gigs I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a program called Gig Performer which I use daily. With that you create what they call rack spaces. A rack space hosts your VST instrument which can be set to a certain preset. It preloads the next one you need in the background and then you can press a button (or a foot pedal) or even press a note to switch to the next one instantly without a millisecond or two

Another trick I use every day is to use the Rii X8 easily found on Amazon
Screenshot_20250629-132351.jpg
It is the best 20 ish bucks I have ever spent. It's a full qwerty keyboard and mouse touch pad smaller than most game console controllers. It's wireless and rechargeable

I use gaff tape and have one taped to my MIDI controller. That gives me a full keyboard and mouse right on my controller. I can move the mouse curser over the preset button on my plugin and then just tap the button on the X8 to bump it to the next one and if I save a preset I can use the keyboard to name it whatever

You also have a scroll wheel for plugins that use those
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks.. I may check those out. Someone on another forum (I posted same question) suggested MainStage... Which I use - so im going to look into that first. Still a little surprised that this hasnt come up as a showstopper previously?? Program Change is such an important part of the MIDI spec..

Does anyone think that Roland will ever release a V-Synth instrument with the Roland Cloud? I'm sure it has been requested already, but I didn't have time to read the 509 pages in this thread. :)
