Am I missing something? Why do you say you have to wait? I have been playing with it for the last few days on Windows11 and it sounds great. Or is the Mac version not working or something? No patches, but who needs patches.Teksonik wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 4:45 pm Sure we can slap an Arpeggiator plugin before the OB-Xf and any number of effects after it but that would require the synth to blow me away sound wise in order to justify the effort since like most people here I have a lot of alternatives for making that type of sound and they do have those features already built in.
I don't remember any version of the OBXd blowing me away in the past but I am of course looking forward to hearing how this version sounds.
I'm ambivalent as to a built-in arpeggiator (and respect the devs' wishes either way), but since it came up, I think this is FOSS?: https://gitlab.com/LibreArp/LibreArpbaconpaul wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 3:28 pm If you have an open source arp around or a closed source one you want to contribute, we could hack on it some though! You know where to reach me![]()
Because I have no desire to spend my time with an early (and possibly wonky) version. I'll simply wait for the official release when it's announced here. I have no need for presets so that's not a factor.dellboy wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 7:12 pm Am I missing something? Why do you say you have to wait? Thanks!Teksonik wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 9:37 pm I appreciate the work the Surge Team is doing, they simply picked a synth that would not have been my first choice for some open source love.
We can get the Synth1 codebase. Here's an open call for reverse engineers to join our fray!baconpaul wrote: Mon Jul 21, 2025 3:06 amNow if only we could get the synth 1 source base.... we've tried....
OK _that_ would be cool. Seriously.EvilDragon wrote: Mon Jul 21, 2025 5:46 am We can get the Synth1 codebase. Here's an open call for reverse engineers to join our fray!![]()
