Seriously get a grip. Not every software needs continuous updates, that doesn't mean it's abandoned.warcat wrote: Sun Aug 03, 2025 4:52 am Hi, is there any information about updates? As far as I understand, there have been no updates for a long time, and the product looks somewhat abandoned. Is there any information about possible reasons?

There are bugs in the current version. So it definitely warrants an update.pchase wrote: Sun Aug 03, 2025 4:59 pmSeriously get a grip. The last actual version was in November. 9 months ago.
The last correspondence was Dec 24th where the Email content was about the end of a sale and a bug fix update "in the first half of January"
I'm a big fan of Madrona Labs but progress is glacial and let's face it they're not a charity and they shouldn't be making claims about fixing things on a timeline while at the same time marketing the plugin.
I don't blame warcat for having the impression it's abandoned.

So Randy made a hopeful estimate he probably shouldn't have and is 6 months over, and you jump from that to "abandoned". Recalibrate your understanding of how software works. He's also a solo developer. 6 months unexpected work is nothing.
Comparing it to charity is almost offensive. It's not anything like charity, you're getting a complete product which you are almost implying is worthless or he shouldn't be charging for. Again, get a grip.

thanks. yes, it seems they have problems with a realistic assessment of their capabilities, which creates questions. but at least it is moving. that is the main thing. it means the product will still develop and I can jump into it. that is all that matters.kraster wrote: Sun Aug 03, 2025 5:52 pmThere are bugs in the current version. There are plenty of solo devs that both deliver timely updates and don't make unrealistic declarations about when those updates come.pchase wrote: Sun Aug 03, 2025 6:54 pm So Randy made a hopeful estimate he probably shouldn't have and is 6 months over, and you jump from that to "abandoned". The whole point of saying it's not a charity is that there are certain expectations and obligations when you sell a product as opposed to something that is given for free. I own every single Madrona Labs software product including Sumu.
Stop telling people to "get a grip" for having completely reasonable expectations.

I just think your expectations are actually not reasonable. It might be understandable to be angry with a dev for not providing macos compatibility updates for long after selling a product say. But there hasn't even *been* a single macos release since Sumu came out, that's how new it is. And yet it's 'abandoned'.
You see this kind of post all the time recently on kvr, "I've been using this product I think it's perfect, it's the best sounding X I have and I can't think of anything to improve about it! But the dev hasn't released an update in 6 months I think I'm going to stop using it just in case"
You're buying a functional
product, it doesn't have to also be a relationship where the developer will keep tickling your dopamine addiction with updates and trinkets. If you want that buy one of those subscription model synths. But avoid developers like u-he (even slower with updates) and madrona.

For the record, there is a beta build currently being tested and worked on. Which of course doesn't mean that I (or anyone) can promise you an exact release date. But I can promise you that the word "abandoned" does not actually describe the state of things.

I play video games. I always feel a need to level up. We as humans have been driven to improve things. Onward and upward! To infinity and beyond!pchase wrote: Tue Aug 05, 2025 5:50 am I just think your expectations are actually not reasonable. . . . but, what happened to my music? It's not improving on pace with my GAS? What happened to me?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Would be nice if there were some patch notes somewhere.
There's MPE, but...it just doesn't feel playable. I keep getting stuck notes. For me Sumu remains a beautiful but occasional drone synth, I guess.

OK got it now - poly AT is working if I activate MPE which is a bit weird but never mind - it works is the main thingfoosnark wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 1:27 pm Would be nice if there were some patch notes somewhere.
