I'm not sure if you saw what I mentioned earlier? I saw there was an update for the XV-5080. Do you know what was updated?

Also is there list of all updates done to the RC plugins over time?
So sorry, I meant to respond to this. What version does it say it's updating to?

The last updates we made were released on June 24th, and that one covered a couple of issues. Fixes for this included: A timing issue in which playback could lag behind incoming MIDI events. A bug where overlapping or “clashing” notes caused playback failures. And a display glitch in version 1.0.5 (XV‑5080) and v1.1.1 (JV‑1080) where recalling an .aupreset would not update the displayed preset name correctly in Logic Pro.

We almost always list these updates on our news page. This one however never made it up there.

To clarify, ACB and ABM are both used differently, but you are correct, we use both of them. I was merely stating that the legendary instruments mentioned, the SH-101 and the Jupiter-4 and Jupiter-8, are all created using ACB technology, which is Roland’s proprietary modeling technology. ZEN-Core emulations use ABM, which is less CPU-heavy. Other companies use similar technology as well, of course. I wasn't trying to say that Roland was the only company that uses this technology, and as I’m sure you are aware, it has been a tool to model sounds for a long time.

hey guys I saw i still got one choice left to choose in my Roland Account, what can you recommend?
I excluded some Im definitely not interested or bought already a lifetimekey.

Juno-106 -> I think TAL-U-NO-LX, Diva and Arturia are more than enough?
Juno-60 -> I think TAL-U-NO-LX, Diva and Arturia are more than enough?
Jupiter-8 -> TAL J-8 & Arturia (well not so well sounding compared to TAL)
TR-606 -> I already got some sample packs, I dont think a vst would give me any more?
TR-707 -> I already got some sample packs, I dont think a vst would give me any more?
TR-727 -> I already got some sample packs, I dont think a vst would give me any more?

JX-3P -> seems also not my cup of tea - I prefer Juno etc. I dunno what this would give me additionally
Promars -> seems not my cup of tea

so maybe one of those?
SH-2
System-1
System-100

What I got:
D-50
JD-800
TB-303
JV-1080
XV-5080
System-8
TR-909
TR-808
Jupiter-4
SH-101
and many SRX Packs + Zenology at some Time

thx!

Hey Gam, ACB is proprietary technology. I don't know what UAD uses to design their plug-ins, and again it's all a matter of taste, but these instrument are designed with ACB technology which is Rolands emulation technology. And many of the devs who have labored over every detail of both hardware and software, were behind their design. So, "accuracy" is a broad concept here and somewhat subjective, I'm just stating the facts about the instruments’ construction.

You are better off with the TAL offerings for JP/JU sounds imo

TR606 RC has built in mods, much like Analogue Solutions mods for the OG one. I think samples wouldn't do justice to these sounds.

I once had a AS modded 606 and this RC version reminds me alot on that unit.

Juno 60 doen't sound like a Juno 106. 60 dco sound more like a vco.

System1 is a poor mans system8, you got the system8 already, one of my favs btw

Sh2/sys100 are not polyphonic and frankly the sh2 is very basic, the sys100 is cool though

Thanks for the info!

It now shows v1.06 (22009) when I load it into a project.
The plugin info screen and the manual both say copyright 2019. I am not sure if those dates get updated over time when changes are made, but thought I'd mention it.

Seeing your list i would go for SH-2 or System 100 If you want a Mono Synth and For Poly i would go for the JX3P if you want a extra synth with a different sound signature than what you already have :)

Just beware that the SH-2 does only have low note priority and not high or last note priority so it will only play lower notes below the note you are holding down.

The System 100 is similar to alot of the older synths from that time so the filter frequency won't go up to max brightness unless you set the filter keytrack all the way to the right and then it will sound even more awesome :D

I own all of the synths except for the Promars since i find the layout and the way it works to be kind of weird so i never was that interested in it either + it is a gimped version of the Jupiter 4 so you already have that one in a better synth.

I would suggest that you try out the plugins that you are most interested in to see which of them you like the most.

What would be the best Roland synth for great sounding pads and strings and especially for getting that Enigma "Space Dream" pad sound from D-70?

The obvious alternatives look to be D-50 or JV-1080 and I am liking their sound. Not interested in Roland Cloud, but I may be interested in a lifetime key of one of these, but hopefully during good sale deals. Do the lifetime key versions go on sale occasionally? When would be the best time to buy based on past sales?

Lifetime keys are on sale now. For example

Thank you, I overlooked this. :tu:

I will buy JV-1080 or D-50 if possible. If anyone has any suggestions if one would be better over the other, it would help in the process.
