Why buying a 1080 instead of 5080, which has 1080 presets in the 900 presets integrated ?
Also zenology pro seems to have all these presets, except of all fx routings ….

Don't get the JV-1080 plugin get the XV-5080 plugin insteadLoveEnigma18 wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 7:25 am What would be the best Roland synth for great sounding pads and strings and especially for getting that Enigma "Space Dream" pad sound from D-70?
The obvious alternatives look to be D-50 or JV-1080 and I am liking their sound. Not interested in Roland Cloud, but I may be interested in a lifetime key of one of these, but hopefully during good sale deals. Do the lifetime key versions go on sale occasionally? When would be the best time to buy based on past sales?
Roland is playing a tricky marketing game with the JV/XV/SRX plugins
The JV and the XV are the same exact plugin with the same sample library. The only difference is the XV comes with more presets so if you want the JV presets all of them are right there in the XV plus you get even more that were in the XV
Now if you don't care that much about the factory presets and just want to roll your own for half the cost you can get the SRX plugins which are (you guessed it) exactly like the XV-5080 plugin only with additional sample content (they still have all the XV-5080 Sample Content). This additional sample content is based around a theme and includes presets from that theme as they were originally sold as expansion ROMs for the XV5080. So in order for the presets the work they need access to the original content as well as the expansion
For synth heads the "SRX Keyboards" plugin at $49 is a really good deal as that is based off the SRX-07 card. That card had all of the Vintage Synth samples from the JV1080 on it. Eric Persing made them from pristine units in big money Los Angeles Studios in the early 1990s. Keep in mind most of those vintage Synths were only 10-15 years old at the time and they were recorded using big consoles and world class outboard. These are some of the best Samples ever produced of vintage Synths made by one of the best people ever to make sample libraries
(Also FWIW the original SRX-07 card had some drum and bass samples on it that are not in the expansion plugin for "reasons" only known to Roland)
The Dance SRX expansion is also on sale. That one had been samples on it from a bunch of synths including ones from the 1990s that we would consider to be "vintage" in 2025 like the JP-8000
If I were looking to spend $100 on either the JV or the XV plugins I would get the SRX Keyboards and the SRX Dance instead

Oh wow I hadn't noticed this. Only messed with it a few times but thought it sounded awesome and was considering it as a perpetual license. But I don't want a mono synth that is low note priority at all. I'm surprised this isn't something they upgraded. They added extra envelopes to their old monosynths, you'd think they'd add last note priority!D-Fusion wrote: Sat Aug 09, 2025 1:41 pm
Just beware that the SH-2 does only have low note priority and not high or last note priority so it will only play lower notes below the note you are holding down.

I found it out after i bought it and i wonder why they locked it to low priority only.
I do agree that it does sound great and it is a great synth if you can live with low note priority but i found it to annoying for my playing style.
Cherry Audio did the same with their Miniverse/Model D plugin

Hi Jon
Is ACB done now or will we see some new ACB plugins and HW soon now that the System 8 is silently discontinued?

Thank you so much. I didn't even know about XV-5080, so glad I asked here. I will check out Zenology Pro as well, but I am a bit confused after reading the previous post.IvyBirds wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 5:02 pmDon't get the JV-1080 plugin get the XV-5080 plugin insteadLoveEnigma18 wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 7:25 am What would be the best Roland synth for great sounding pads and strings and especially for getting that Enigma "Space Dream" pad sound from D-70?

I appreciate the detailed advice, IvyBirds. I will check out the SRX synths too, but there are many of them, so looks like I may need to buy at least two to cover more ground. Somehow landed on SRX Orchestra audio demos first and I am super impressed with the sounds! I will check out SRX Keyboards and Dance next.

1080 sounds a bit more vintage. 5080 sounds cleaner. 1080 also includes all the sound sources that 5080 includes, but not all of the presets.sacer wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 5:00 pm Why buying a 1080 instead of 5080, which has 1080 presets in the 900 presets integrated ?

Where are you Jon?
I will ask again incase you missed my first post.
What will be the future of ACB Now that the System 8 has been silently discontinued?
Is a New Hardware planned to be released to replace it or will we see new products and plugins based on new technology?

Yes, a proper analogue jupiter reissue to join sequential and oberheim.D-Fusion wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 10:41 am Where are you Jon?

What i would like to see is a MK2 built with the same Quality as the Juno X and no green lights with 61 Keys and a Desktop version like the System 1M and that it can have 4-6 plugouts in the unit and more polyphony or a dynamic Voice option so the lower notes can have a Mono bass sound and the rest of the polyphony will be added to the polyphonic part on the higher keys
Or maybe make them individual products and give them Analog filters from the originals
