Hi,
I'm having a few issues which have persisted through several updates.
1. 'My Presets' and 'User Presets' show the same 2 presets, and none of my 'starred' favorites are visible, except where they appear 'starred' in 'All'.
2. Many global skins don't change %.
Thanks for feedback

But not here - this is how it should work: preset 44 (column 3) is positioned as 2nd from the top. Horizontal scrolling means scrolling the entire column to the right or left, and the selected preset should always be second from the top.Teksonik wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 7:00 pm I'm not sure what you mean. The preset numbers stay in the same position when scrolling vertically here.
and this is how it works on my computer (vertical scrolling). Initial state:

scroll down 1 line:

scroll down another line:

1: My Presets shows preset files on your computer, saved with your author name. User presets shows preset files on your computer, the author name doesn't matter in this case. So, My Presets is a sub set of User Presets
2: SynthMaster 3 (1 and 2 as well) doesn't let you choose a skin scale that is larger than your screen size.

I understand the issue now. That creates confusion, I agree. I know how to fix it (need to quantize the first index position). I also watched a video about Hive's preset browser. It is displaying presets vertically (column 1 first, column 2 next, etc), but the scroll bar is displayed below and it is horizontal.robert_p wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 9:21 pm But not here - this is how it should work: preset 44 (column 3) is positioned as 2nd from the top. So here's how I am going to implement:
1. vertical display wih 3 columns:
preset 1 preset 3 preset 5
preset 2 preset 4 preset 3
scroll bar below (displayed horizontally)
2. horizontal display with 3 columns:
preset 1 preset 2 preset 3
preset 4 preset 5 preset 6
scroll bar on the right (displayed vertically)

I think you meant “preset 6” there.kv331 wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 10:31 amI understand the issue now. That creates confusion, I agree. I know how to fix it (need to quantize the first index position). Just to give some feedback: I do not like the new browser and was much in favour of the old one, since it was so much calmer and more directly accessible, like the old Bitwig browser (I still use Bitwig 4 because of the crap browser in 5...).
Can this be a user preference please?
The old browser was one of the best in the industry and I don't see why this needs to change?
It was much more direct to click through categories etc. before.
Like somebody else said: I can listen to one preset at a time only anyway, so what use is it to see dozens at once?

BTW. I'm not a fan of the late u-he browsers AT ALL.
They became quite the convoluted mess.

Wow, @kv331, you just can't win...... Don't try to please everyone, get a consensus and go with what the majority prefers. I, myself, don't have a preference. I just feel bad for you trying to please everyone..........

It's not about winning, it's about having a persistent plan and vision and keep at that, otherwise you are a leaf in the wind, blown in whatever direction.
Most of the changes since SM3 beta were for the better of the product, this is the first one that feels like makework without a real benefit.
It will please some people and piss of others.
Zero sum game.
I'd rather see a modal oscillator added or an improved comb filter (the only filter in SM3 I don't like or understand, while I totally love comb filters normally, like those in Vital or Diversion).
But yeah, I'm just another "somebody on the internet", so my enthusiasm for SM3 being diminished by the new browser is just another gale...
Cheers,
Tom

I guess I'm just not that easily confused by a list of numbers. One of the best things about SM3's browser is that the patches are numbered which should alleviate any confusion.
Ok, whatever the consensus opinion is then go for it. I can handle any method without confusion.

I apologize. My message was not aimed at you in any way. I just noticed that some people wanted things changed, and some wanted things to not change, and some wanted the change changed (or at least selectable). I felt sorry for the developer at that point. Here, there is a saying, "You just can't win. You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't. That's what I was referring to when I referred to not being able to win. No offence to you (or anyone) was intended. I hope none was taken. I just found the situation surreally ironic.ThomasHelzle wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 3:43 pm It's not about winning, it's about having a persistent plan and vision and keep at that, otherwise you are a leaf in the wind, blown in whatever direction.

Thanks for the reply.
I guess I'm still confused.
1: My Presets shows preset files on your computer, saved with your author name. User presets shows preset files on your computer, the author name doesn't matter in this case. So, My Presets is a sub set of User Presets
Okay. So is there no longer a way to have a Browser Filter for 'Favorites'?
I have many 'starred' presets which only appear in their source folders along with all the un-starred ones.
2: SynthMaster 3 (1 and 2 as well) doesn't let you choose a skin scale that is larger than your screen size.
None of these skins will display larger than this one shown.
I guess I'm still confused.

Did you click on the Star near the top towards the middle? I tried it as a test, and it worked for me, showing a few favorites from two separate banks.photonk wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 7:03 pm Thanks for the reply.

I also was able to enlarge the UI to nearly the full screen at a high resolution.

One thing I noticed is that some of the preset names with extra info e.g. mw and pitch bend etc., spill over to the next column a bit. Also, the preview arrow kind of sits on top of all that too, which makes it a bit harder to read, but at least that can be disabled.
I can't remember if it was that way before or not though.
