Note that the Save button would save inside the live bank, not to a file on your disk. If you want that you'd still need to export to FXP or FXB (but we can make that faster by right clicking the Save button, for example). The patch browser we intend to do will simply allow easier overview over patches and banks stored on disk, and then loading from the browser would basically overwrite the currently selected patch, or you could drag&drop a multiple selection of patches onto one of 16 buttons in the Programmer section and then consecutive patch slots would get overwritten with things you've selected, etc.

Makes perfect sense ED. You guys are on the track.

Those Xpander filters are very nice!
FL Studio 25 | AudioThing JULY - Deimos - U-he Filterscape - NI Kontour - Softube Model 80 - LUSH-2 - UAD Opal - WaveOSC

It's really just the usual 4 pole filter which already had 4-to-1 pole morphing, except now it does more things :)

just fyi folks we are chasing a problem on windows HDPI when the screen is set at 150% and the UI is set at 150% where the clap and vst3 can crash in some cases but only with the bitmap skin, and only when opening menus.

It's "not fun" to find. but if you are a windows hdpi user you may want to stick at plugin UI 100% for a bit or use vector skin if you want to move away if you are pushing it around

Post

How do you switch between vector and bitmap skins? I only see a single factory/default theme. Is this the vector one?

Edit: I only copied the VST3 file. Does the installer include additional skins?

Post

The installer installs the bitmap yeah. If you copied the vst3 you just have vector

I'd like to raise a practical question at this point. Considering this is more like an OB-X than an OB-Xa, will users still be required to create a Van Halen Jump patch in order for the plugin to function?

Post

OB-Xf is a combination of a bit of everything. OB-X only had the 2-pole lowpass mode, here we have a full morphable state variable 2-pole. OB-Xa had a 4/2-pole switch like what we have here. And then we also added Xpander filter modes. There are also some extra modulation options ako. to what was possible on OB8.

You can get Jump on basically any synth. It's one of the most pedestrian sounds ever, heheh. But now that I reread your post, I see the tongue was placed very firmly in cheek :P

No, but they will need program a 'Tom Sawyer' filter sweep at least once a week.

Fun VA plugin.

Hi Evil Dragon,
a general question:
In how far are you guys willing to bend away from the original? Reason i'm asking is, that i really like the synth - though there's 2 things that are kinda nagging me. First is, that i would love to be able to push the oscs hotter into the filter. As you we're so kind to implement the enhanced OBX D filters from Surge, These actually sound _very_ good when the input is cranked - as that way you are able to adjust oscs amplitude distance to the resonance (at max resonance), as well as the saturation sounds marvellous then. I do this in Surge *all the time*. I just adiore that enhanced version of that Filter.

The second thing would be, that i'd love to be able to modulate the resonance with both an env and an lfo.

Would you guys maybe willing to add that, considering you already enhanced the synth compared to its original specs?

We won't put everything and the kitchen sink in this one. What we have in plans currently is a better patch browser and MPE support for 1.1, and this will allow you to modulate more parameters than LFOs and envelopes can (including resonance) using the usual MPE gestures. But the main page of the synth we basically consider practically final I'd say. Never say never but we don't want to make it busier than it has to be and also introducing more tabbing is just not a good flow in something that is supposed to be a relatively basic synth.

I understand. But you could set the osc levels internally as they are now but at half way of the level knobs and make that default. That way one could push the oscs hotter into the filter with the Ränge above half way. That way no gui change would be necessary. So no added clutter.

Installed it, but this has no factory presets. Where are the pressets? Factory data is here: C:\ProgramData\Surge Synth Team\OB-Xf\Banks\Factory.fxb but in the GUI I can't choose presets if they existing anywhere...
