Oooooooh!!!

And I know what you're thinking: "That lucky guy, how did he get his hands on a pair of those?" Well, let me tell you, I was strolling around the local goodwill looking for some used bullshit to coerce into being weird shelves in my bathroom, and I stumbled on a pair, they were $7.99 each. For that price, I knew that there was something wrong, but, to me, the speaker boxes were worth that for playing around DIY style and I had doubts that the plate amps were completely broken. I thought that the most likely outcome was that one or more drivers were blown from abuse. I didn't notice pattern of the duct tape marks on the back of one, whatever.

Got em home, one works great, the other one, also works great, if, you hold the volume knob in. Ah, the duct tape marks were where the tape applied pressure to the volume control. Turns out it was a B10k trimmer style, took me about 1/2 hour to replace. Typical jerry rig it until becomes it's too annoying every time the bass causes the speaker to cut out, give them away, and get something new.

They're not great, but extra speakers are useful and they're the best set of sub $20 monitors that I've ever purchased.

BTW: There's nothing really special about the design. Simple analog crossover, class A/B car amp chips, no, not even close to the stated 75/125 Watts, more about 12 to 30 watts per driver. Typical boxy bass that you always get in inexpensive five inch bass-driver monitors.

Quite funny that I said I had no GAS for the TR-1000 as it’s too pricey for me to contemplate but ModularGrid tells me my eurorack case full of drum modules is worth about five grand.

Guess that’s the “oh maybe just one more module” nature of the beast.
Exactly, I have the cymbal version of this. I've thought about the clap module. I have also been thinking about a Kick module, but, that's something that I am going to be very fussy about.

Oh actually I was wrong, I don’t have the WMD Crater kick module either, but that’s by choice as I am very happy with the SSF Entity Ultra-Kick. I also probably won’t bother with their new hats module when it comes out as I prefer to use the WMD Crucible or noise modules.

Just discovered I have £47,000 more in a pension fund from a job I had 25 years ago than I thought I did.
(I thought I had about £500 in there, I had completely forgotten the joys of compound interest!)
Desperately torn between being sensible and buying more toys although I notice that Black Friday isn't too far away...

I see someone has a CRIC for sale on reverb.
Although I need another monosynth about as much as I need another hole in my head… hmm

Be reasonably sensible. More toys won't pay the bills when you're skint.
How original

Just congrats man. That's a nice discovery that gives you, I'm assuming, some breathing room. For most of us discovering that we had some $50k more than we thought would be a nice thought, especially in today's crazy world.

tbh all it has done is move the age I can retire and still afford rent from 73 to 71!
But, it will let me pay off all my cards etc so that’s a weight off.

Congrats anyway. Two extra years of low(er) stress retirement is nothing to sneeze at, nor is paying less credit card interest.

About a year ago I had a similar discovery. Not as much, but I took a vacation to CA to spend some time with family. Yes, I did buy a Metal Fetishist too.
Anyway my advice is take a vacation, you only live once.

I don't especially want to recreate polyphony as such in my modular.
me neither :hihi:
in todays video they showed some of the chaining function, where end of cycle, triggers next stage, rather than re-cycling itself. some pretty cool effects to be found there!

also, multimod firmware update, just in case you didnt know :)

Also what caught my attention is the sound, going from individual voicing to stacked sounds, that sounded more like added harmonics than polyphony. I think this could lead to some unique sounds.

yeah, it seems far more than adding polyphony

i like that update method, looks simple.

That’s next on my list. I just plopped Polimaths and QXG in. I still have some choices to make about what goes/stays, but I really can’t go wrong.

I’m hoping to get up and running tonight!
