Good to hear that it's intuitive. I haven't spent much time with recent Roland drum machines but I found the MC-707 to be completely unintuitive, so I was a bit concerned about that. I also found the RYTM to be unintuitive.

Ditto. I bought my MC-707 literally a few days before the TR-1000 teaser countup began and spent about a week with it before deciding that it would either be replaced by whatever the TR-1000 was going to be, or just sold outright. In fairness, I bought the 707 so cheap that my intention all along was that I'd probably end up flipping it for a little profit, which is exactly how it played out. I do have to say, however, that some of the demos I saw from people who know their way around it are able to do some fantastic things with it. I just don't think I would have the patience to take it that far.

Mine came 2 days ago and I'm having a hard time going through all the functionality, still haven't gotten to sampling. The darn thing is just too much fun to noodle around with. I've been watching that 3 hour long deep dive on Roland's yt channel and I'm still not even half way through.
Given how deep the machine goes it has surprisingly little menu diving. For example, I remember TR-8s requiring quite a bit of scrolling when fiddling around with insert effects. Not so on the TR-1000. Sure, there's still 2-3 pages worth of parameters, but the bigger screen and a dedicated FX menu button make it a breeze. Overall I feel like Roland has really put in some thought into the workflow of this thing and I think they've done well.
The analog voices are good and punchy. No surprises there, but given that there are quite a few analog drum machines out there that sound lackluster I thought it's worth pointing out.
And I'm enjoying the analog fx section way more than I anticipated. Esp. the drive. I thought it'll be a just a gimmick, but it's actually useful. Simple, but effective, from subtle thickening to 11, whatever you like. Personally, I like both.
Also, there's an 1176 type compressor option in the master fx section and you can choose a 4000g type compressor as an insert. I don't have an opinion on them yet, but I haven't seen anyone mention them. Seems to be a new thing for Roland, I don't remember TR-8s having either of those and SP-404 MkII doesn't have them either.

Wasn’t too sure about it until I saw the Skinny Puppy/DOWNLOAD/Tear Garden guy give his seal of approval. Considering the price that their vintage machines are going for, this seems entirely reasonable.

Firmware v1.13 is now live with bug fixes and improvements, notably Sync Delay to address the sync issues with external gear.

What do you think, what's the build price of one at these volumes? I bet under $300, maybe less. I mean, I bet the engineering was expensive, so was marketing, but I wonder how much headroom a smaller company would have to make something comparable.
