With Halloween coming up, I thought I would try something scary sounding. Created on an iPad Pro with some low budget software, an Apple Pencil, and some decent headphones. The mix sounds a bit muddy so I may come back later and try again… or not.

So what's under the bed? Hmm ... is this an old fantasy or a childhood fear?
This makes this title all the more interesting.
The track is initially dominated by the vocoder-like vocals. The sprinkling of
distorted guitar—probably a synth—adds more dynamics. Towards the end a
piano line emerges.
Overall, I'd describe it as "psychedelic electronic." It's a somewhat mysterious,
meditative journey through the subconscious, its fears and expectations.
Very inspiring and interestingly done!

Thank you! It’s an old childhood fear. One night I heard a tapping sound coming from under the bed. It persisted and my mind started imagining things. I never figured out what it was.enroe wrote: Sun Oct 26, 2025 2:22 am So what's under the bed? Hmm ... is this an old fantasy or a childhood fear?

Prior to getting this iPad, I never did “music” like this. I played keys and bass in pop/rock cover bands. I was perfectly happy with that and made a few bucks, too. I took a 16 year hiatus from music in 2004 and started doing this at my wife’s suggestion in 2020. I miss playing in a band for a live audience, but doubt if I’ll ever go back into it. I don’t miss the late hours and driving to and from gigs. I have also developed a bit of arthritis in my hip and don’t think I could remain standing for an entire set.
Nowadays, I like to sit outside on my patio and poke at my iPad. I get to “write” all of the music and “play” all of the instruments. When I come up with something I like, I can post it on SoundCloud and Bandcamp for the whole world to hear. There seems to be a few people that like it!
Thank you for listening and commenting. I love when people take the time to analyze it and provide feedback. Most people listening to this would probably just hear noise. Believe it or not, there is actually a structure to it. It’s all in Cm at 60 bpm, and built around a 16 measure pattern that I created in a MIDI editor. Then I just swapped out different synths and sound libraries until it sounded like it was done.
Thanks again for listening. I will return the favor as soon as I can. Have a great day.
