Galaxias is Roland’s vehicle to tie all of its Cloud synths into one product. Since it’s designed to use literally everything, via preset packs which layer the various synths, it also makes it an impractical product to use without an Ultimate level subscription. So it helps Roland push subscriptions AND make greater use of everything they offer.
Zenology “GX” (GX for Galaxias), is just them making some Zenology interface improvements, whilst also making Zenology look more integrated with Galaxias. It appears to scrap the Zenology Zencore synth models in favour of using Galaxias to layer the various ACB engines alongside Zenology instead.
What this means, for the future of Zenology itself, remains to be seen. But, in some senses, Galaxias is quite a different product. If you’re aware of a product like Unify, Galaxias is essentially something like that, but specific to Roland’s Cloud offerings. So far this sort of makes sense on paper. But layering several ACB synths can get -very- CPU heavy, even on the latest CPU’s. You’re not going to be running tons of Galaxias instances - at least not for a while.
My own opinion is that (for me) older versions of Galaxias felt incredibly heavy and clunky, to the point where I’d never want to actually use it. I don’t see a makeover, which takes Zenology and tries to make it more integrated, changing that perception. But if you’re the sort who loves presets aplenty, especially ones which layer multiple synths, maybe you’d get more from it.

Totally, thank you for this, I appreciate this post. Zenology GX is not replacing ZENOLOGY Pro. It offers a fully integrated version of ZENOLOGY Pro into GALAXIAS. A big part of this is an improvement in CPU performance and quicker load times (we also made an update to GALAXIAS). It also offers GALAXIAS-specific features on the instrument like the Arpeggiator and Chord Sequencer. I also think it actually looks really great as well and makes ZENOLOGY Pro more digestible to those who are unfamiliar with its structure.PAK wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 6:48 am Galaxias is Roland’s vehicle to tie all of its Cloud synths into one product. I do not see anything wrong with giving discounts for old products. As long as they will still run what's the issue?IvyBirds wrote: Wed Nov 12, 2025 6:44 pm They sold the Soundcanvas plugin knowing it was being discontinued right up until it was gone, don't think for a second they won't do that with Zenology Pro
(I guess Mac users with their regular breaking change OS may have a different opinion than PC users)

Shall we see a Zenology Pro sale for 99 USD (not subscription) again in the coming Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals?
Is there a trial version?
Is Zenology Pro Collection available in the Roladn Cloud subscription only?

You have to have a subscription of some sort, even the free one, but you can buy it from Sweetwater for instance, not just from Roland Cloud itself.tripleflows wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 12:25 pm Shall we see a Zenology Pro sale for 99 USD (not subscription) again in the coming Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals?

You need a Roland Cloud *account*, but you don’t need a paid subscription tier.Examigan wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 1:47 pmYou have to have a subscription of some sort, even the free one, but you can buy it from Sweetwater for instance, not just from Roland Cloud itself.

So if you have bought Zenology Pro beforehand, there's no improvement in the GUI or loading times up and coming? It would be respectful to existing adopters to provide some form of update, even if it's payed for. I hope Zen Pro will get some love too!

FWIW I heard the same thing from Windows users who keep their installs up to date. Win 11 has certainly broken things in the past. I expect you're talking about Windows users who never update or update rarely. Same thing can be done for the Mac. If you're really reliant on something to not break then don't update your OS or hardware._leras wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 6:03 amI do not see anything wrong with giving discounts for old products. I hear you! GALAXIAS is a pretty hefty instrument. The improvements were made to GALAXIAS specifically because a lot of users were having issues with Zenology inside of GALAXIAS. The GUI improvements come from a full integration. Just because we made an improvement here doesn't mean we won't update other instruments in the future, and I appreciate the feedback.Soundsauca wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 6:30 pm So if you have bought Zenology Pro beforehand, there's no improvement in the GUI or loading times up and coming? We do have some promotions planned for the future, not able to disclose exactly what they are or their release dates, but I'll try and let you all know when we have those available. If you haven't signed up for a membership yet, you do get a free month of Ultimate by signing up for one. We are also offering Play 4 Life now, which offers you the ability to keep up to two instruments for the price of an annual membership. So at the end of the membership year, if you don't want to keep a membership going, you can cancel and keep two instruments. This deal doesn't include ZENOLOGY Pro, but it is something we currently have going on.tripleflows wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 12:25 pm Shall we see a Zenology Pro sale for 99 USD (not subscription) again in the coming Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals?

Why did they never update all the synths to have the same browser/UI as the Jupiter and Juno?
