well, I think you are right, if lots of people do like something, it must be good, that's a rule, lots of people like Taylor Swift, too.
Maybe my plugin folder would be glad to have Absynth back again....
Well, not sure, cuz
"Absinthe
A strong green spirit popular in 19th-century Europe, it gained a reputation for causing hallucinations) and was banned in many places."
Break the spell, really?

To those who've had this awhile now, is the sound improved much? With the new filters, improved fx density this and that? I'd like to stop w/ my hem hawing over it, but if it's just bigger GUI with new presets I'll stick with 5 (and ofc. my free Zebra 3 update.) Even if the sound is ever so slightly (though audibly) better that'll do. I'm really looking for any excuse here.

Honestly, the only reliable way to settle this is to demo it. You’re going to get completely opposite takes here. Some will swear the sound is dramatically improved, others will say it’s basically the same, others the opposite and a few will even start rambling about negative energy fields like Absynth 6 personally insulted their aura. Perspectives come from real users, but neither tells you how it behaves in your workflow, on your monitors and with the kind of patches you actually build.. The demo is essentially fully functional as far as I remember (preset saving is restricted), so you can compare the overall tone against Absynth 5 in your own setup.
That’s far more reliable than trying to reconcile everyone’s subjective impressions. If you’re already half-looking for an excuse, the demo will give you a definitive answer in 10 minutes instead of 10 pages of debate.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do Not say that ! ....now i´m lusting for a FFT based FX Device called "Spectrum Trolls" (plural)

It is pretty much exactly the same for better or worse. I got sucked in by the excitement and I wish I would've waited to get it with the next Komplete upgrade.

The thing about Absynth 6 is it's so much easier to program. Now if that's not important to you, yes, definitely wait until it goes on sale or comes with the next Komplete Update.

Maybe this helps someone stuck with similar issues on presets: one of our very diligent users found out that a very specific 3 presets from our packs cause AB6 to hang for a very long time (can be minutes) while scanning.

We are passing the presets and info to NI, but worth to keep an eye out if you experience similar with other presets of your own or from around.

Seems to only affect very certain ones (again in our case talking 3 out of 800) - unsure yet what is unique about them, and only in the case of loading AB5 presets in AB6.

From our own stuff its:
S21 Digital Fiction pack, the preset Saw Chordy 7th.nabs
OS Part Of A Star pack, the preset Underwater Cave 02.nabs
OS Part Of A Star pack, the preset Underwater Cave 03.nabs

For all you Absynth skeptics out there :)

These do not hang Absynth 6 for me and importing all your banks took just a couple of seconds. However I have had a similar experience that the one bank I have had hangs on, when I went through them one by one, it turned out to be literally 2 patches causing Absynth to hang. I also sent them to NI.

There does seem to be some discrepancies between systems, on balance Windows systems seem more susceptible to these hangs than Mac, I have imported all banks from The Unfinished, yourself and Leap into the Void for example with no problems whatsoever - providing I used the method of putting them in the Factory Sounds location.

User Sounds is not fit for purpose at the moment, not only does it not result in banks showing in the banks list, it strips sounds of their tags and just puts them in a long user preset list rather than a browser list organised by bank.

Alright odd, in our case the user who found this is on Mac. If you are already on their centercode thread and want to also attach our presets I mentioned above as well, go for it. :tu:

Curiouser and curiouser - your banks were the first I added and they literally took just a couple of seconds to scan in - so maybe there is another variable in play here?

Anyway I've passed your patches onto NI too for further analysis.

btw if anyone is familiar with Symlinks I have now replaced directly copying over folders with using symlinks from the Absynth 5 bank folder locations to the Absynth 6 sounds folder - saves having copies in different places, saves space, plus for me they scanned in faster that way. Also since this is a Factory location and there is a risk that Factory locations can get overwritten by installers (just a warning) Symlinked folders minimise those risks.

Importing my Absynth 5 preset library (finally) took somewhere in the ballpark of 6 hours. I just went to bed and let it do its thing. Unfortunately, Absynth 6 doesn't pick up on the programmer tags so it's not in the AI map thing. So, essentially, the browser has remained the same as 5 for me.

See my post above - it does pick up on tags and banknames if placed in the Factory sounds location but not the user sounds location
