I'd like them to stay in user location tho... the factory folder might be touched by update installers.

So the thing to do then would be to put the third party banks into the factory sounds location? Is that risky in terms of updates? Obviously they would have to be backed up but I'm used to those being in my user folder where I don't have to worry about them. And if we save a variation of a third party patch (or factory or any patch really), that would be saved in the user directory and not be on the sound map (assuming the tags stayed the same)? So would we need to move that to factory sounds too? That would be a bit much.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 4:23 pmSee my post above - it does pick up on tags and banknames if placed in the Factory sounds location but not the user sounds locationvoidhead23 wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 4:03 pm Importing my Absynth 5 preset library (finally) took somewhere in the ballpark of 6 hours. I just went to bed and let it do its thing. Unfortunately, Absynth 6 doesn't pick up on the programmer tags so it's not in the AI map thing. So, essentially, the browser has remained the same as 5 for me.

parma wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 3:31 amIt is pretty much exactly the same for better or worse. I got sucked in by the excitement and I wish I would've waited to get it with the next Komplete upgrade.nusound mind wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 11:56 pm To those who've had this awhile now, is the sound improved much? With the new filters, improved fx density this and that? I'd like to stop w/ my hem hawing over it, but if it's just bigger GUI with new presets I'll stick with 5 (and ofc. my free Zebra 3 update.) Even if the sound is ever so slightly (though audibly) better that'll do. I'm really looking for any excuse here.
Thanks guys. I went ahead and got it anyway. I do think the aetherizer sounds at least marginally better, the new filters sound atvl different, sometimes better, and like wagtunes you said, it's easier and imo less fiddly to program. I like how my own created presets can easily be accessed by clicking the user icon. The screen is bigger. I've had less success w/ the mutator sofar for whatever reason, but hopefully it gets updated a lot.wagtunes wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 4:14 am The thing about Absynth 6 is it's so much easier to program. Now if that's not important to you, yes, definitely wait until it goes on sale or comes with the next Komplete Update.
I would recommend waiting for most people, Absynth 5 does the trick honestly but I'm glad I got it all the same and I think my vst synth buying days are over atp. I don't do Komplete myself, really it was specifically Absynth I'm interested in.

Issue is, most users didn't need a new Absynth 6 costing them 99€ to upgrade. We just needed a free update to Absynth 5 so we can use it on recent machines.
But hey ! It's NI !

Yes there is a potential risk with a factory location of what’s in there being over written so don’t move anything- just copy or use symlinks as I amEchoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 4:38 pmSo the thing to do then would be to put the third party banks into the factory sounds location? At the moment I’m saving user presets using Komplete Kontrol which gives me more control tagging and management and they still open in Abynth 6 is they now have an identical preset format

Waiting for traditional NI summer sale, where the upgrade will be probably at 50.Calagan wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 5:58 pm Issue is, most users didn't need a new Absynth 6 costing them 99€ to upgrade. We just needed a free update to Absynth 5 so we can use it on recent machines.

Trust me, I love Apple, generally, but I really got sick of the backward compatibility issues they’ve had since they moved from Motorola PPC chips.Calagan wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 6:04 pmyes, it's true...zerocrossing wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 6:04 pmFixed that for you!Calagan wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 5:58 pm Issue is, Apple users didn't need a new Absynth 6 costing them 99€ to upgrade. I'm sure making it work for recent machines was non-trivial, and they ultimately bit the bullet and did it right. I think they did a great job at keeping the spirit of the old synth while making it work for today's marketplace. It is vastly more appealing to browse and program.Calagan wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 5:58 pm Issue is, most users didn't need a new Absynth 6 costing them 99€ to upgrade. Regarding the glitch with certain presets slowing down scanning, I am sure this is some tagging or other shenanigans gone wrong when reading something and finding something unexpected, once looked at by the devs should be an easy fix. Just a guess but likely.
Regarding the locations, probably also not something extreme to fix, likely an oversight in the details that once now flagged can be taken care of.
I don't have info but I would expect both resolved very soon.

I have some very nice moments with the preset ”Fiend Bell EP” holding a note in the lower register. Hypnotic.

Is there not just the one folder for Absynth 6 (unlike Absynth 5, which certainly had separate user/factory locations)? I'm on a Mac.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 4:23 pm See my post above - it does pick up on tags and banknames if placed in the Factory sounds location but not the user sounds location

Factory = '/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Absynth 6/Sounds'
User = '/Users/username/Documents/Native Instruments/User Content/Absynth 6/Sounds'
But the user content folder is the one not working properly so I am using the factory one for now but symlinking the preset folders from the Absynth 5 User Sounds location
