Nobody prevents anyone from just using it for the oscillator + MSEG alone, with an occasional filter, a mapper or the extra LFO added to the patch.

Keep in mind that all those other plugins and sundry computing tasks may also be improved by a newer computer. You can spread out the cost justification if needed. Santa does that sometimesDCrown wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 8:31 am so buying a new computer for just one plugin I couldn't justify
As someone with an i7 cpu and 8gig ram, I can relate to wanting a more powerful machine. But so far, the guy in the mirror is the biggest limiting factor. I'll look for a cheap i9 with 16 gig of ram in 2027, Lord willing.

This triggers an idea:
why not make a soundpreset folder called "Z3-light" or so.
To give some "good -yet still quite simple- sounds" as a starting point.
all said !
my TL;DR:
While i have been *very* deeply into patching with HW Modulars, and in my own way very deep into sounddesign, i also +- just play with presets when it comes to SW-Synths.
It might sound foolish to ask for such sound presets (in an own folder ?).
But it would make sense to me !
To have a starting point that was not based on my doings, but by U-HE team, giving me -the user- the security that nothing was screwed by my doing.
........then take these sounds as a basement for further explorations.
( could even be turned into some base vs. some "paint by numbers" instructions or tuto videos)
to be clear: not sounds to aim in first place to be competitive sounding.
First aim: towards to create a "clear situation - starting point"
( yeah, i already dabbled with Z3 and made a own sound or two. But i can operate synths also without any understanding vs. what i´m doing, repectivly just with a very partial understanding)
i like that idea of such "base exploration" sounds with no other aim than just that.
( i´d not acept (
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

I'm basically a monkey slapping keys in terms of technical prowess and operational knowledge, so I somewhat sympathize w/ both of your sentiments. However I found that those module presets that one user posted in the u-he forums work fantastically for finding useful patches, so far from the main presets it comes w/, and instead of gloopy sounds meandering into the abyss for an hour, out pops crisp sounding gold. Mainly the sequenced ones thus far. About 4 or 5 which currently found there way into actual tracks already.swilow11 wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 8:42 pm... for me, I'm also trying to wind down the time I spend noodling away at a patch. I love doing it but also feel like my very finite time for music gets eaten up massively.billinder33 wrote: Fri Dec 19, 2025 12:51 pm
Maybe this kind of workflow appeals to someone like Hanz Zimmer who has all day to experiment with different routings options that ultimately produce relatively similar results, but for people who have a general target sound in mind and want to get there fast, Zebra is like the anti-workflow. It's a shame.
In terms of ratio, I think once or twice to no avail. Def. worth installing those imo. Hopefully future updates will include more module presets. Usually I go the reverse-engineer route, which a lot of times are what stock presets are good for, but definitely as it stands, there is some esotericism going on with the current functionality, which sometimes is fun, it's a big mystery and when you strike a sweet spot it's rewarding, but yeah, no-one likes noodling away to no avail too much.

Absolutely true. I must admit when I'm using a monster synth, my brain tells me I should be doing monstrous things with it. It feels like I'm not using it "properly". I'm weird.Urs wrote: Tue Dec 23, 2025 8:46 pm Hehehe, I'd argue, Zebra 3 is its own Zebra 3 light.

But seriously though, if you upgrade HIVE2 with the amazingly awesome genius of the Zebra 3 hybrid oscillators, I'll buy several

The people asking for a more powerful Hive have overlooked some existing capabilities. Try opening up Zebralette 3.0 and right clicking on the oscillator curve. The "Copy curve" command gives you a .uhm script (just paste it into a plain text file and change the extension) and the "Export Wavetable" command renders to a WAV. Those are the wavetable formats Hive already understands.
I hate signatures too.

Hive does not yet interpret Z3 Curves in .uhm - but I'm sure this will eventually happen. One still has to render them into a wavetable though in order to make them audible in Hive.
