Why? I'm using it daily on my imac. Doesn't even require Rosetta mode, still works.jtsterays wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 5:01 am Very unique reverb, one of the few that actually sounds good on synths ime. Thank god I'm a windows user.

if it’s running on a silicon iMac, then your DAW is providing a Rosetta wrapper for it. It absolutely requires Rosetta to run on silicon CPU Mac.mholloway wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 6:26 am

Fully agree that it is one of the few reverbs that sound good on synths. I do not know what it is, reverbs like Valhalla sound amazing on vocals but as soon as you put it on a synth it sounds dull and weak. The aar sounds bright and huge and is also clearly hearable on synths, especially on super saws.jtsterays wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 5:01 am Very unique reverb, one of the few that actually sounds good on synths ime. I wonder why that is the case, specific frequency range?

Not true. I have Rosetta turned OFF for Ableton 12, and the AU of AAR is still available for use (the VST is not). Ableton does not have the capability to wrap individual plugins w/ Rosetta, it's a global setting only.Weasel-Boy wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 8:08 amif it’s running on a silicon iMac, then your DAW is providing a Rosetta wrapper for it. Afaik the last up date was released in 2013, years before apple even went apple silicon (clearly they were working on it long before they were announced) but I would be shocked if something created in 2013 works on apple silicon without requiring rosetta.

Wish I felt the same as those of you who think Tai Chi replaces AAR successfully... I own Tai Chi, and have had no such luck whatsoever. I simply cannot recreate my favorite reverb patches with it, not even close. Long modulated tails sound totally different.
My primary point of comparison is the "deep gong long" preset from AAR (original factory preset folder, percussion folder). I tried recreating this in Tai Chi best I could trying to match settings 1:1 (which of course they aren't, so it's difficult -- but the general idea is a 10 second tail with a healthy dose of modulation and the 'open' sound of the Fast algorithm). Tai Chi.... does not work for this.
If anybody has patches -- either factory or self made -- for Tai Chi that so big 224 style deep space verb for synths, I'd love it if you shared them. Because right now, I'm scratching my head. Tai Chi sounds *nothing like* AAR for my purposes.

I don't know what to tell you, other than what I've already plainly stated: Rosetta is un-checked for Ableton 12 on my (sequoia) iMac, and the AU for AAR is available, and works fine. Only glitch is that correct preset name text doesn't always appear when opening the plugin window.zvenx wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 6:01 pm Afaik the last up date was released in 2013, years before apple even went apple silicon (clearly they were working on it long before they were announced) but I would be shocked if something created in 2013 works on apple silicon without requiring rosetta.

That's because Rosetta is used behind the scenes to allow using x86 AUs in ARM hosts, it's a macos featuremholloway wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 6:42 pm I don't know what to tell you, other than what I've already plainly stated: Rosetta is un-checked for Ableton 12 on my (sequoia) iMac, and the AU for AAR is available, and works fine.

I've always liked the sound of the Arts Acoustic reverb in Nexus, just sounds good on everything. FWIW, I use 2B Played SlimVerb and UAD Lexicon 224 on synths and can't recommend them enough. I personally didn't have much success with Tai Chi and ended up selling it.

Agree, if AAR at some point does not work anymore Tai Chi is the best replacement. I force myself to use it currently already as my main reverb because I do not want to use abandonware and be too reliant on such an outdated plugin, but it is sometimes difficultsqigls wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 1:51 pm exactly

Tai Chi sounds great, but user interface is bit cluttered compared to AAR. Also sounds AAR still bit bigger overall (cannot explain why, more “wet”) but Tai Chi comes very very close and sounds fantastic in its on way
I can recreate some of the patches of AAR in Tai Chi, I can try deep long gong. Now on vacantion

Thanks for clarifying, didn't know this about AUs, makes sense!pchase wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 7:13 pmThat's because Rosetta is used behind the scenes to allow using x86 AUs in ARM hosts, it's a macos featuremholloway wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 6:42 pm I don't know what to tell you, other than what I've already plainly stated: Rosetta is un-checked for Ableton 12 on my (sequoia) iMac, and the AU for AAR is available, and works fine.
