Nicely done! The beginning has a Gentle Giant vibe to it and I like the groove that comes in after the piano part. Great space middle/end.

Jcub inspired me to get out the Chapman Stick for this Electro Prog track. This one is definitely out there.
Track 9 will be uploaded when it's completed.

Thanks. I guess my 70s Prog Rock influence comes through. Next to Broadway, will always be my favorite genre.jcub wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 7:04 pm Nicely done! The beginning has a Gentle Giant vibe to it and I like the groove that comes in after the piano part. Great space middle/end.

What a delay on voice, nice.
I am just curious where you get all these different singers, male and female. There is something strange about the voices I heard on some of your tracks, I can't even tell exactly.
What mic(s) do you use? Are you a recording studio owner?

There's a caller on Line 1, from Suffragette City, with some questions about the verse section...

The vocal FX are courtesy of tips I got for vocal processing from our own Watchful, There is a detailed instruction sheet here:DCrown wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 7:41 pm What a delay on voice, nice.

As for the voices themselves, they're AI vocals. Essentially, I sing the song and then upload my vocal track to https://audimee.com/. I then pick the singers I want and the site replaces my vocals with the AI voices. I download them and replace my tracks with their tracks. I've been doing this for some time now because my voice isn't the greatest.
But the way the voices sound in this track is all because of Watchful. I now know how to process background vocals. What a difference.
As for my mics, I have Node2 and a home studio. Nothing fancy.
Anything else you'd like to know, just ask.

Oh yeah, I definitely stole the crap out of that. I don't think David Bowie, God rest his soul, is going to mind.andrelafosse wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:34 pm There's a caller on Line 1, from Suffragette City, with some questions about the verse section...

He was one of my favorites. Space Oddity, Starman, so many great songs. He died way too young.

Now I see, that's why they sound a bit soul-and lifeless and slightly artificial, important is that you have fun.wagtunes wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:37 pmThe vocal FX are courtesy of tips I got for vocal processing from our own Watchful, There is a detailed instruction sheet here:DCrown wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 7:41 pm What a delay on voice, nice.

As far as backing vocals are concerned, there is not just one way to mix and include them, every song is different. I often prefer no reverb especially on backing vocals. Very often delays are a better choice than reverbs
I don't see any sense in making sketches of a view on a beautiful hill landscape, then asking some van Gogh double to.paint it and finally present it as if I did it. I mean the most important part of a song are the vocals, the rest is just around the vocals also adding something when the singing has a rest, maybe a solo, so autotune and all the new AI stuff are not for me, also not for mixing, you add your signiture by mixing yourself.
What about the guitar solo?

Funny, I thought the most important part of the song was the song itself. Silly me. The guitar is a virtual guitar. Sorry to disappoint you there too.DCrown wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 5:59 amNow I see, that's why they sound a bit soul-and lifeless and slightly artificial, important is that you have fun.wagtunes wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 9:37 pmThe vocal FX are courtesy of tips I got for vocal processing from our own Watchful, There is a detailed instruction sheet here:DCrown wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 7:41 pm What a delay on voice, nice.

You know it's funny, your first comment on the vocals was "nice". Yeah, that was the word you used. But then when I told you how I did them, suddenly they're soulless. Elitist much?
I don't think we have anything left to talk about.

I already had an assumption why vocals don't sound natural, but in case I would be wrong, I didn't want to offend your singers, a software, though, I can easily offend. Nice refered to delay btwwagtunes wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 9:55 am You know it's funny, your first comment on the vocals was "nice". Yeah, that was the word you used. Of course in a song with lyrics, vocals are the main part, what else. Mute the vocals and you don't have a song any more, cuz something essential is missing, mute the bass, it is still a song.
The most important thing is that you like what you are doing, I will never enjoy listening to AI made music and one should always promote or mark a song as AI production imo, cuz some people don't like fake or consider music art in a traditional way, where skills are used, skills that make someone play a instrument by using fingers, hands, feet or mouth in most cases and voice is the most important part, different views are allowed, of course.
If you use a sampled piano, you usually still play it on a keyboard or you just type in "hey AI, please ad some piano to my song. Big difference.

Except it is NOT an AI production.DCrown wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 11:16 amI already had an assumption why vocals don't sound natural, but in case I would be wrong, I didn't want to offend your singers, a software, though, I can easily offend. 1. I wrote the entire song. Lyrics and music.
2. I arranged the entire song.
3. I mixed and mastered the entire song.
4. I actually sang the entire song. All I did was have AI modify my voice to sound like a decent singer.
If I had run my voice through a vocoder (something done by many groups like ELO) would you have a problem with that too because it wasn't my "natural" voice?
Well, I've got a simple solution for you. Don't listen to anymore of my music. And I will NOT mark my songs as AI made when they are NOT AI made.
God I hate this place.

I even doubt you wrote the lyrics without chatgpt or something similar, cuz you use ai for voice, so it is hard to trust you.
It is like someone who once stole something in a small shop. When somerhing was stolen again, who would be suspected?!
Adding effect to something is different from stealing someone else"s voice.
Different opinions and that's ok.
Voice is a very sensitive topic, voice is almost holy. Voice is not a. thing like piano or guitar, it is something human (with soul!).
At least you sang the whole song, there are examples where AI makes everything.
AI destroys, not changes, completely destroys something that was art back in the day.
But I don't really care, music is just a worthless mass product today , you need no skills to produce music today.
You admitted vocals are AI transformations, so your songs are AI productions, and the artificial sound confirms it.
