No, they're actually fully integrated SSL plugins with Sonible's algorithms. If you have 12:25, here's a pretty interesting discussion with the developers from both companies:

BTW, I bought these this morning after a short test and I posted a quick review, partly in response to your post in the Effects forum thread. Spoiler alert - they aren't some game-changing plugins that are going to make mixing engineers extinct, but they offer more utility than a simple preset does because the AI tailors the settings to your material and the type of sound you want and just gives you a better starting point.

I don't have learn:comp, sorry. If I find the time I'll download the trial and test but it won't be very scientific anyways

EDIT: just tried, learn:comp and smart:comp (2) sound the same if the settings match. They just chose slightly different starting settings after analysing.

Nobody has received anything yet, because it clearly says you have to wait 24 hours.

Anyway, strange concept, missing a more detailed "about us" section also, etc, etc,..

So who are they ? Where do they come from ? and what is the horse they ride on ?

It's amazing how many people can simply attack without real evidence: people who don't read the rules, don't complete the double opt-in process, have bouncing emails or don't check their spam folder. Not to mention the ones that abuse the system and signup with 10 different email addresses. Or the ones that used their serial and say it didn't work and want another. We've seen them all. Only people running a plugin store or a newsletter can really understand the process behind. Criticizing is super easy. We invite you to do better if you can.
