Announcing the launch of ULTRA

I bought directly and only got 100 credits. This hasn't been fixed in 1.0.7.
Too much of a good thing can be bad. It looks like the silver rings of the dark knobs is a little too busy now. This is a matter of taste, but they could be quieter.
There already is a Store tab that can't be hidden. It's more than enough. Please consider removing the Get more sounds banner at the bottom of the Library.

Okay thanks, I read the following in your original post and just assumed the Sampler engine would import multi-samples. (.SFZ format import would be cool):ultra_audio wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 8:42 pm Sampler does not time stretch. It is not a multi sampler either. That will be a new Osc type, and a free update at some point.
----ultra_audio wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 4:43 pm UltraWave extends wavetable synthesis with pitch, stereo and multi-sampling.
Of course Unison is not exactly the same as Osc Detune, and Pan is not the same as Width. Yes, I could just use the Super engine (or three of them). But I find with VA sounds using just enough unison detune to give it some depth and sweetness without going into full super saw trance territory yields some very pleasing and rich analog style sounds in every synth I own that has the unison function. I will say the unison sound of Ultra's Super engine is one of the best of any synth I own. Very rich and pleasing.ultra_audio wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 8:42 pmAnalog osc does not have unison but you can detune each of them on the left and right which would sound like 6 oscs. Right click the cents, and adjust the stereo width to do that.
One of the first things I tried in Ultra was layering a Super engine with a VA engine as I find the different "flavors" add complexity to the resulting sound. That's when I found myself wanting true Unison in the VA engine. I also have synths that allow Unison of samples and that results in some truly wonderful sounds so that would be a feature request as well.
At any rate I'm a big fan of Ultra and will keep an eye on it's development. If you could announce when the into price will run out that would be appreciated.

It's been fixed after all... Or it has been since my last post. Thanks.Velden wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 10:59 amI bought directly and only got 100 credits. This hasn't been fixed in 1.0.7.
(I don't know why the black caps, silver rings knobs in the GUI are bothering me so much, I'm not even sure they have been changed, but they do look to me like they are trying too hard.
Why are there at least six different kinds of knobs is also baffling stupid me, don't know if there are different categories or somfink, but they sure add variety.
I'll think of something more intelligent or useful to contribute another time...)

I understand some don't like the concept of a Store...Velden wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 10:59 am There already is a Store tab that can't be hidden. It's more than enough. Please consider removing the Get more sounds banner at the bottom of the Library.
Everyone is given enough credits for 66 new patches, you could think of it as being able to choose 66 more patches for your factory library.
You don't have to buy any more credits if you don't want any further patches, and if you download any single patch or pack, the banner disappears.
I personally think that the store gives artists an opportunity to make some income from their sound design talent, and it's going to improve Ultra a lot over time as more and more content is added.
But you don't have to use it of course!

Multi sampler will load SFZ for sure when it's built.Teksonik wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 1:13 pm Okay thanks, I read the following in your original post and just assumed the Sampler engine would import multi-samples. (.SFZ format import would be cool):
I like to put a few voices of Super under patches too. It's a good approach.Teksonik wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 1:13 pm One of the first things I tried in Ultra was layering a Super engine with a VA engine as I find the different "flavors" add complexity to the resulting sound. We haven't got a firm date to end the intro price. We have not really started marketing yet. I can say that it will still be running till the end of Jan at the very leastTeksonik wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 1:13 pm At any rate I'm a big fan of Ultra and will keep an eye on it's development. The knobs have been the same since at least 2019... I recently found a picture of a very early build - same knobs! lol.Velden wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 5:21 pm (I don't know why the black caps, silver rings knobs in the GUI are bothering me so much, I'm not even sure they have been changed, but they do look to me like they are trying too hard.
We do have a skin system built, so you will be able to get skins with knobs to your liking

Really great idea which sounds excellent and does something different to the typical wavetable synth. I'm enjoying the demo a lot. May purchase but my bar is extremely high nowadays.
I see that the Attack indicator light bug was fixed. Awesome. One thing that sort of annoys me (although it's a cool feature) is the shaper envelope for the side chain module. I think it would be better if it was more freely adjustable. I don't like how the mouse just teleports to the nodes- feels weird. But a great idea, helps to make this very common task much simpler.

We've thought about just letting you draw a shape.swilow11 wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 9:37 pm One thing that sort of annoys me (although it's a cool feature) is the shaper envelope for the side chain module. Yes, it is, and regardless, nobody should be hotlinking Imgur in 2026 if they can help it.

This would be great imo. Even greater would be adding an audio input to trigger that module.ultra_audio wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 4:00 amWe've thought about just letting you draw a shape.swilow11 wrote: Thu Jan 22, 2026 9:37 pm One thing that sort of annoys me (although it's a cool feature) is the shaper envelope for the side chain module.
