Go Sheaf Go!! :hyper:

Do you have pricing decided yet?
I think Sheaf was undecided on whether to charge a price or not. Maybe if ongoing resource heavy development and bug fixes are needed, then a cost will be applied otherwise it will be free.
No.... That can't be right.... I hope it's not right..... This needs to be a "paid for" product. Don't do free!!! That would simply be a mistake. :(

It's worth more than $77 for sure

A well made SY 77 emulation has to go for at least $99. Probably closer to $149.

Eventually, we'll find out.

The price also plays a decisive role in sales figures. A low price could also encourage people to buy if they are not specifically looking for an SY 77 emulation.

Post

For the price, we could suggest Sheaf to look at other VSTi synths emulations prices, and decide. it has to be a real commercial product. It is the UNIQUE SY/TG77 emulator in the world.
Months... YEARS of work and research + real need for SY77 owners.

Whether this ends up being a free or paid product, is entirely up to the creator of it. Hopefully if the paid route is taken and with regular free updates, then I hope the price is affordable to people with very little money, which is most musicians.

DEXED is free therefore SWAYED should be free.

If it is renamed YAWS77, It will be worth 499 dollars (or more). Maybe 999 dollars.

I'm going to try to stay out of the debate. But let me say this one thing..........if it was free, there would be less incentive to continue development and support. Let that sink in...........

If you remove the -ED off the end of the name, the product is worth 50 dollars more alone. :hihi:

That depends on the person(s) doing the work. Their background, personal wealth, and motives are not ours. A labor of love may or may not have a financial componant. I think a lot of 'love' is involved in the career decisions of great plugin coders, regardless of the prices they may or may not charge to use their creations. And some supply excellent feature-limited versions priced between free, and $no-brainer$ 8)
Cheers

How about if Sheaf just charges whatever he wants for the plugin?

That works for me. I will say this much. Given what the top plugins go for today, my top dollar amount that I would pay for this is $199. I don't think it will be that high but that's as high as I go.

You don't value something that you get for free/cheap like you value something that you have paid with hard-earned money. Basic human nature.
