No, that's not possible at the moment. Would that be an important feature for you?

Would it be possible to add a "Bypass Reverb" option? I think most people would want to have the other effects.
Yeah, that could be a useful option.

What is the purpose of CARD in the sysex area? Also first it said just "no card" With a warning triangle, then I clicked on it and chose Swayed Expansion 1 and that got listed but I cannot remove it now. What does it do?

Yes! That is a must for me.

Thanks for the quick response. Congrats btw. Wishing you well on the release.

I have loaded the original wave roms and the sysex file of the original presets, but I do not seem to be able to choose which wave rom set I want to use with those presets: the original one or the swayed one.

The 3 dots in the top left corner open a menu with a "Bypass FX" option. If you enable this, the entire effects section will be bypassed, and this persists between preset switches.

If you just want to turn off the reverb you'll have to go into the effect setting of the preset itself. It's in the COM screen (top right) -> Effects tab.
Thanks. I like your synth, but dislike reverb a lot. So each time I have to turn volume of reverb of a preset to zero, sometimes there are even two reverbs. It is very bad for a fast workflow, an option to turn off reverb would be great.
Why is the quality of reverbs so bad?
Even old Xpand2 has better effects.

I wish you all the best with your synth. I tested every preset, it might be a nice addition to someone who has no Yamaha hardware synth. When I compare it to my Yamaha S90, S90 is by far superior, presets and effect quality and I even think Xpand2 sounds better and gives me more good presets I can use in a production and Xpand2 are samples afaik!

These synths let you load expansion cards with more samples. That's what this feature does, let you load Yamaha format expansion cards.

Have you imported the original ones? You should be able to choose the destination expansion when you import the sysex.

Yamaha's original copyrighted samples obviously don't come with the plugin.

Haha
just use the crap (authentic) reverb sound and the many poor sounding presets and have fun.
What are you trying to say?
That someone is not allowed to have his own opinion?
Sorry, I am obviously not the only one who has noticed the bad quality and I don't care how authentic an emu is, a synth has to sound good!
Xpand2 was released in 2014 and sounds better than a synth that has been released today in 2026. Well, it influences my buying decision.

The waveform source of AWM elements in a patch can be one of the following: PRESET, CARD, or AFM. For the hardware, if it's CARD, it refers to a waveform on the card that's currently physically inserted into the expansion slot of the hardware. So if you loaded a patch on the hardware that uses CARD waveforms, you'd also have to insert the right card in the slot. The card ID was stored with patches that came on voice cards to make sure they match, but the card ID was not stored in SysEx files.

This selection box in the SysEx tab allows you to choose which card to use for the currently loaded SysEx patches that use CARD waveforms. Swayed also stores the ID of the card in the patch itself, so it automatically selects the right card for the AWM elements if you load a patch. If you convert the SysEx patches to presets, this card ID will be saved along with them.

I hope my explanation makes sense and does not add more confusion.

Just like I am allowed to have an opinion on your opinion.

Which is, as a reminder:

A one-man effort can't be expected to have also great presets (usually the intersection between software/firmware/hardware developers and synth programmers is kinda small, because it's two totally different skillsets). Make your own, or wait until somebody makes a preset pack.

Also, as for the reverb quality, did you live in the early '90s? If not (well, it's thirty years ago), reverb (bad reverb) was EVERYWHERE back then.

Xpand2 was a synth designed for 2014. Swayed is a faithful emulation of a synth designed in the early '90s. You don't want Swayed if you want modern tone. You use Swayed only if you want *that* specific tone, or if you have old programmes from back then, or maybe if you know the ins and outs of the original synth and for some reason you'd love to use a software recreation of it.

I have the hardware SY77. I found the original wave roms and sysex on the web and loaded them. But I do not seem to have the possibility to select the original wave rom or the swayed one (to compare). I think the presets run on the original one but cannot be sure.

Thanks! Makes things a lot clearer but still have to think about it a bit ( I have the hardwareSY77).

Yeah, SY99-option would be nice. :D
