I know, but the SY77 had 44 effects with only 3 or 4 parameters, and it already took ages to recreate them. The SY99 has 63 effects with up to 10 parameters. I don't think I have it in me

ok, I see, it is completely ok to emu close to 100%,ampetrosillo wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 6:15 pmXpand2 was a synth designed for 2014. Swayed is a faithful emulation of a synth designed in the early '90s. You don't want Swayed if you want modern tone. You use Swayed only if you want *that* specific tone, or if you have old programmes from back then, or maybe if you know the ins and outs of the original synth and for some reason you'd love to use a software recreation of it.DCrown wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 6:05 pm Xpand2 was released in 2014 and sounds better than a synth that has been released today in 2026. Well, it influences my buying decision.
as far as Xpand2 is concerned I read several times that it is a synth that recreates the sound of 90s.
But that's not important, I have Yamaha hardware and I have Xpand2, better options for me and Sway just isn't for me, I expected more from a Yamaha synth , though, not knowing what the original sounds like.

DCrown, best you stop trolling these threads, OK? Nobody in either of them gives a single crap about you prefering Xpand2 or UVI romplers to this product. Move along, for the love of g**. Just. Move. Along.

As someone with an actual TG-77 in my rack to compare with, I'm really sorry to say this was a disappointment. I'Il have to pass on a purchase. But it is a nice effort and I wish Sheaf the best.

How so? It's not faithful to the original, even with the original ROMs?Weasel-Boy wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 6:33 pm As someone with an actual TG-77 in my rack to compare with, I'm really sorry to say this was a disappointment. I suppose you had or have the original or had the opportunity to try one, so you can say whether it is authentic. But someone who has not can't say and it is not important for me whether it is authentic, all that matters is whether it inspires me to create music.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 6:51 pm100% that's how it's gonna go down.beely wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 5:48 pmUser: "It sucks!"EvilDragon wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 5:33 pm The original SY77 had a very bad reverb, so this is a great emulation just fyi![]()

You wrote the reverb of original sounds bad.
So what is the sense of recreating a bad reverb of a synth?!
Just to be able to say it is a good emulation?
Makes no sense to me.

What is the point of distortion? It makes sound go fzz!

If you model the SPX-900 in SY-99 maybe you then could sell it as standalone FX unit plugin: I will die for a good SPX emulation!sheaf wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 6:29 pmI know, but the SY77 had 44 effects with only 3 or 4 parameters, and it already took ages to recreate them. BTW, many compliments for this great and much anticipated release!

This would be a great idea. You could make the reverb part of the patch, so that classic patches could be created and restored, and modern patches could be created and restored.

Ouch! Sorry about that. Thanks for reporting. I found the cause and will fix it now.
