Congratulations on the launch, that's a massive achievement. The journey you described from a slow HTML prototype to a full C++ implementation is something many of us can relate to. It is always a huge challenge to get a core DSP concept running efficiently in real time without compromises. The UltraWave oscillator concept seems very powerful, especially with the multi sampling aspect added to the wavetable paradigm. I am particularly curious about your approach to interpolation and preventing aliasing when you are morphing between different sample layers at various pitches. I'll be sure to check out the demo this weekend.

That's not available yet but coming soon :)

This synth is exceptional.
Watched some videos with sound examples, not going to demo, it is not for me.

Thanks for letting us know.

Is their anything official about Sampleconstruct (Simon) making a bank? Wave table samples seems to be perfect for his type of sounds (which I always enjoy). I think the twisted orchestral patches are the most interesting in the factory pre-sets so far (anything that shows of the ultra engine) - more please!

Nice one! Works well. If I was being super picky I'd maybe make it a bit more senstive, calibrated like u-he or synapse, but what's nice about Ultra is that for click and drag on knobs (or three finger drag on a mac trackpad) it also keeps the pointer in the same place, so with a track pad you can three finger scroll for faster movement and when you let go the pointer is in the same place so you don't have to pull the pointer back over the knob again. One of those QoL things all plugins should do!

Sounds great by the way was just trying it again. Looking forward to MPE implementation and then I'll probably have to cave in and get it. By the way not sure if anyone has requested it but it would be super cool especially once mpe is there - custom modulation curves in the mod matrix mod slots is super handy. Actually I see you have a nice curve editor for the aftertouch. Applying this to each modulation assignment would be great.

After a bit more testing I gotta say wow what a great sounding synth! I hadn't given it much of a chance so far. So big sounding, yet present and punchy and clear. Nice work on the sound engine.

I like the look of it too. My one gripe with the UI and it's similar for other synths too like Serum 2, is that I really prefer to be able to see both filters at the same time. I don't mind tabbed oscillators and effects, but I always like to see the filters. If I could adjust it, I would put filter 1 and 2 side by side or stacked on top (maybe the mixer somewhere else) and have effects be tabbed somehow and not shown all the time.

Well as it happens... we have built this and it's coming in version 1.1 :)

Clicking the small graph launches the editor.
You can edit the curve and add multiple points to it if you want.

  • Does anyone actually use the transfer curve on the aux source? I've looked at a lot of presets for other synths and it's super rare.
  • One idea we have is to replace the aux transfer curve with an amount knob, and maybe an invert switch. That would seem to cover almost every use that I have seen.
  • You can't click and drag the small screen like in Serum 2. Clicking launches the large editor only. I find that interaction is a bit finicky personally...
Would be keen to hear everyone's thoughts on all of this. Thanks!

Very nice! When you see the transfer curve on the aux source is the curve editor over to the right per mod slot? Is that like a “via” source which modulates the first source? Like an lfo as primary source modulated by a mod wheel on the same line? If so a curve editor makes sense for aux as well. You could have an lfo modulating something that is triggered with a mod wheel but not until the top half range, which can be useful if the lfo is modulating different things where some changes happen first and others later. Though I imagine you can also set up a new mod slot which is mod wheel modulating lfo amount for example and set the curve there. But why not have it an in the aux too to not have to do that.

If I’m even interpreting your question correctly.

Hahaha that’s some serious auto correct! Let’s see if I can figure out what that was supposed to say…
