'Honestly, SWAYED just came out and there haven’t been many issues overall'
I'm often amazed how new instruments arrive in working order with lots of enjoyable sounds, yet many focus on everything but recording new music with what's at hand.
If I'm lucky, now that Uncle Sam has gotten his cut of the action, I can toss a coin, heads for buying Diva, tails for buying Swayed. Win or win

It did not work for me for more than a few minutes before triggering a bug that made the output go silent. It was not usable. I was able to reproduce it and give the reproduction steps to the author, and he fixed it right away, and now it's not a problem anymore. Trying to ignore it would have been a mistake.glokraw wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 6:59 pm I'm often amazed how new instruments arrive in working order with lots of enjoyable sounds, yet many focus on everything but recording new music whith what's at hand.

No, not yet in this version.

Just take your time for them. No rushes.sheaf wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 5:34 pmYeah, I get some issues too with those files. I'll have to investigate it.sonictv wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 10:30 am I've tried importing SY77 factory patches by loading a Txx-converted SYX file, but the waveform #'s won't load. I believe the Txx files were intended for SY99, as I've downloaded them here: http://www.bjoern.com/download/factory.zip
Looking forward to 99-compatible fixes.
The juice is not worth the squeeze for such a huge undertaking I think. If I remember correctly the SY99 has around 160 additional waveforms. It would take me a very long time to recreate them.soundman007 wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 11:57 am How about recreating waveforms for the missing ones from SY99 just as you did for the SY77, rather than just mapping everything to triangle wave?

I understand, so how about another way of working. If we know what a missing waveform is for a particular preset of SY99 then surely among the more that 200 hundred waveforms which you already have there will often be something considerably closer to it than just a triangle wave. So why not use that?sheaf wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 5:34 pmThe juice is not worth the squeeze for such a huge undertaking I think. If I remember correctly the SY99 has around 160 additional waveforms. Yeah, I suppose that would be an improvement.soundman007 wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 6:34 am I understand, so how about another way of working. The triangle wave was just a consequence of how the SysEx works. SY99 SysEx patches consist of 2 commands. First there is a command that sends a regular SY77 voice that has a triangle waveform if it uses a waveform that doesn't exist in the SY99. The second command is a SY99 only command that updates the waveform to the correct one, and also adds the parameters for the SY99 effects. This way the SY77 can still load SY99 patches. They simply ignore the second command.
But there is no reason why I should do it this way. I'll work out a complete mapping that uses the closest matching waveform.

Maybe there could be some community effort in attempting to recreate the samples of SY99?sheaf wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 7:23 amBut there is no reason why I should do it this way. I'll work out a complete mapping that uses the closest matching waveform.

Exactly, that was what I was thinking, the "we" in my message was not meant as imperial pluralEvilDragon wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 11:09 amMaybe there could be some community effort in attempting to recreate the samples of SY99?sheaf wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 7:23 amBut there is no reason why I should do it this way. I guess the main issue with that idea is that it's difficult to provide provenance of how the sample was created (or worse, stolen from). So I would understand sheaf's reluctance to go that route.

$50 spent heretumface wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2026 11:49 am Personally, I think fresh new sets of pseudo-retro ROMpler-y samples that aren't trying to mirror the original library would be more fun. But both would be cool![]()
https://digitalsoundfactory.com/product ... bit-phatt/
Gets you the entire library from the old early 1990s E-mu Proteus 1,2, and 3 units as well as the Proteus Orbit and Phatt.
These are legal and licensed from E-mu/Creative directly and are in the Sound Font format
You can use the free open sourced "Convert with Moss" or something like Chicken Systems Translator to convert them into other forms. I HIGHLY recommend Convert with Moss, you can use it to batch convert a folder of Soundfonts into a folder of SFZ
Sheaf has said before he is adding SFZ support to SWAYED
That's a TON of old Rompler sounds that covers everything from old Synths, to orchestral, to world sounds, to dance and the Proteus library since it came from the E-II and E-III library is far more interesting than the old AWM2 library from Yamaha before the Motif came out
They have a bunch of other old Rompler sounds available also from other Romplers and Samplers
I have it and highly recommend it. If you are looking for a low cost and ethical/legal way to have a great library of some of the best old Rompler sounds that is it
