How is it good consumer practice to HAVE to be logged in to a VST???
Common sense is obviously not that common...

In reality your are logged in by default to any VST that phones home, it just doesn’t show you as logged in in the GUI, but you are logging in.

No you're not. Not at all.
A user-login to a synth is just not the way to go in this day and age.

It’s good consumer practice not to purchase or be involved with a product whose terms of use you are not comfortable with. There are plenty of people who don’t use VSTs with iLok for example. If you don’t like the terms, don’t buy the product, seems pretty common sense to me!

I had a problem once when after some time using the arturia plugin again, it didn't work. Seems the activation servers were down and I had to wait (for them to come online again) . Seems arturia does online checks by default. (at lease it did a few years ago.). I had contact with their support, and the solution was to explicitly use a offline license which was not the default way when activating (had to do an extra offline activation)

I'm sure there is a misunderstanding regarding this whole discussion. I haven't checked yet, but as I understand you can run ULTRA in offline mode. You just need to be online to log in with your credentials. With "logging out" I'm convinced this means manually logging out of the synth (=de-activating it), not closing the synth, and not cutting the internet connection.

The question is, why do you need to log out? You can still go offline, and it will still work.

For anyone who is interested in how the accounts work...

Logging in = activation.

• The plugin knows whether it's in trial mode
• The correct content is downloaded for the user
• When buying packs and patches, they are applied to the user account

Can you then go offline?

• Yes

Can I log out and still use it?

• Logging out deactivates the plugin, so no

This is no different to Pigments, most DAWs etc.

This is going to be fixed, if I'm not mistaken when reading the thread.
