yeah sorry, it's getting obvious now. It's like trying to convince a flat earther. Either he is really just trolling or completely trapped in a mindset that distorts his view on the subject by ignoring simple facts

It’s not a troll…
It’s sadly a phobia about nothing.

Back to the synth.

I'm sorry you don't feel having to log in to synths with username and password, and stay logged in, is bad.
How you manage to compare that to flat earth is a mystery. But so are most of your posts here.

Testing the upcoming MPE functionality in beta, and I must say that these guys have thought of everything. Such a well designed synth in all respects, in addition to the sound quality being excellent. This synth deserves a thread of at least 100 pages by now (not about the copy protection) !

Does anyone have a preference for any of these three styles of slider for the mod range?
  • Arrow - a bit asymmetrical, more accuracy
  • Bar - symmetrical, a bit less accuracy
  • Round - symmetrical, least accuracy but best looking perhaps

Why would round be less accurate??? I guess only visually, but screen resolution isn’t that important, the ear decides…
Round is easier to grab…

Post

A round one, but without the metallic reflections — I’m not a fan of introducing skeuomorphism in such small UI details.
Or perhaps a minimal circular outline/ring, with the actual value visible underneath?
Btw, I’m not entirely convinced by these kinds of metallic reflections elsewhere in Ultra’s UI, whether on the large black or silver knobs or on the smaller white knobs used in on/off sliders, as they add a realistic design language to the abstract language of the rest of the interface.
Other than that, the UI is very well designed.

Post

The "bar" is by far the most elegant. The "round" thing looks dated.. 10 to 15 years ago that would have been the norm (probably due to the reflections).

Definitely the third (round) one.

Post

The arrow, as it is now, is very easy to grab, as you can click anywhere on the slider or anywhere below it in line with the arrow. If it was to be changed to one of the others would the size of the grabbing area be reduced, i.e., not being able to click below the slider?
It's not hard to grab the slider, but it's obviously easier with a bigger area. Maybe something to consider, I suppose?

Aesthetically, I prefer the bar.

The arrow looks like the arrows you click to add more of them along something.
The round look is very dated.
Bar it is.

So everyone has a different opinion
Who would be a GUI designer! I love the way Ultra looks, I am sure any of the 3 would be fine :tu:
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Post

I think I like the bar best.
