PCF ReBirth is a subtractive VST3 filter inspired by the legendary PCF module from ReBirth RB-338. It recreates the distinctive pattern controlled wah wah character that gave ReBirth so much of its movement and attitude by combining a highly flexible 16-step sequencer with sophisticated filter emulations to create evolving, rhythmic textures. From subtle rhythmic sweeps to aggressive acid style modulation, PCF Rebirth brings that unmistakable sound into modern DAW workflows. It is the rebirth of the PCF filter.

Installation
The windows installer should be self explaining.
In case you prefer the zipfile, or want to use the VST3 at MacOS or Linux:
1. Download the Zipfile. Extract it.
2. Place the VST3 plugin in the official plugin folder:
– **Windows**: `C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3`
– **macOS**: `/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3` or `Components` (AU)
– **Linux**: `/usr/lib/vst3/` or `/usr/lib64/vst3/`
3. Rescan plugins in your DAW

Quick Start
1. Set tempo (manual or `SYNC` to DAW transport)
2. Activate steps & set pitches using the vertical sliders
3. Choose filter engine & mode, then shape tone with `Freq`, `Q Amt`, & `Env Mod`
4. Adjust pattern length (1–16), tweak `Slew` for gate shaping, press `RUN`
5. Load presets or save your own with `SAVE AS`

Grab the plugin, start experimenting, and let the patterns breathe

Hey friends,

Here comes a new beta version with two new features. We have now a randomize feature on the pitch of the sequencer steps. That way no sequence sounds like the other anymore. Which can create beautiful random sound landscapes, especially with drums. And i have added a gain button.

Please uninstall the previous version in case you have installed it with the Windows installer. The internal paths have changed. And we don’t want to install two versions of the vst effect.

Quick update. The presets didn't load anymore. And the new randomize settings were not stored in the presets. So i made a quick update.
Sorry for the inconvenience. That's Beta. But i hope we are now through. Next version should be gold.

There is a new version. It fixes two issues. The vst3 was not found on Mac Tahoe 26.5, And i compiled accidentally the debug version. Which is then simply slower and results in a bigger file size.

Bah, it is more complicated than thought. You need to compile at the target platforms. Let's have a look if Github Actions helps.
