KEYLAB ESSENTIAL 49 PLAY/PAUSE NOT PAUSING IN FENDER STUDIO PRO 8

I am using the Keylab Essential 49 (KL49) with Fender Studio Pro 8 (FSP8). The KL49 is setup as both a keyboard and a Mackie Control surface within FSP8. The keyboard functions just fine as I can play all my VST instruments in the DAW. With regard to control, all of the transport buttons work perfectly EXCEPT the Play/Pause. If the play head is stopped, this button will indeed start it. However, a successive press does not pause the play head at current location as expected. The only way to stop is with the STOP button. I would appreciate any insight into a solution if anyone else has encountered a similar problem.

FYI, I use the KL49 with Cakewalk Sonar and I do not experience this issue.
