Bugs ?

Osc in fixed mode the finetune of 50 gave me 6hz Now it's 3.16228 Hz : 99-> was 10.9Hz Now 9.77237
Loading Old Projects, some presets are recalled wrong (sound different), changing the Engine Resolution from Modern to Mark I and back fixes this but not permanently (save proj load proj and it's wrong again).

Great Synth :hyper:

Cygnus X-1 wrote:Not sure if this totally a simple question or I am missing something but I do not see ANYWHERE how to install this vst plugin on Linux. Even the github page has nothing! So, if anyone could let me know where to download the .so file or show me how to compile it (without JUCE), I'd be grateful.

I tried $ make but it complains about not being able to find the VST SDK, which I have but I am not sure how to change the MAKEFILE or modify the path with Introjucer 3.1.1.

Thanks.
Dexed is build just like any JUCE plugin. Search for "JUCE VST Linux" and you will pretty much get the information you need. But I will to add an how to on the Dexed wiki when I have time.
Took me some time & effort to finally compile it. It's just that it seems there's no easy way to change the include paths on Linux. I downloaded Introjucer 4.1, changed vst SDK paths in global prefs but still won't work (filed a thread about this on JUCE forum :D), so I literally changed every single include path manually, including the ones inside the vst SDK!!!

Anyhow, done it, and it sounds AWESOME!!!!    for this great sounding synth. Here's a copy of the .so file http://www.mediafire.com/download/uo8ys ... 0/Dexed.so, hope it's ok to share it. For any Linux user, just put this file in your vst folder and load it in your Linux DAW, it was compiled on Linux Mint 17.3 64bit.

Thanks.

Thanks ! What version were you using ? this issue was fixed in 0.9.0; I didn't changed anything in the current "beta" version. As for the engine resolution you must be using a very old Dexed version :scared: ... but it should work out of the box with this next beta version.

Set LFO speed to maximum, save project, reload project => LFO speed (listen to the sound) not at maximum (although the knob itself still is).
The LFO was indeed not properly initialized. Now fixed.

Happy new year everyone !

Working in version 0.9.0 b2 not working in 0.9.1 b3, here is an example, if you load this in 090b2 it sounds like it should.
In 091b3 it sounds different, but when you change the engine to mark 1 and back again it's OK.
Hope this helps.
P.S. the finetune-bug is still there in 091 b3

Oh, and happy New Year to you !

Hello again. I'm sorry. LFO produces only positive values...

Finally got around to trying out this synth and I am very impressed with the sounds! As someone who is not very experienced with FM programming, are there any tutorials/resources to get to grips with programming this beast?

Hey Pascal & all the other contributors,

thanks a lot for Dexed! Finally I got a good software replacement
for my DX7 Mark1 (my first synthesizer, which I bought used more than
25 years ago)!

Dexed sounds quite juicy and is far more close to the original DX7 sound
than FM8 in my opinion!

I made a little funky demo song, which sounds a lot like my self-produced music stuff in the 1980s:

https://soundcloud.com/markus808-1/mark ... -you-wanna

(all instruments by Dexed, except drums (samples); of course with the addition
of effects like chorus, reverb, eq and compressor/limiter)

Enjoy!

I am curious about the various modes (modern, mark 1, OPL). Are these variations in algorithms otherwise simply the DAC's? I realize they are all from different hw.

Got interested in Dexed after auditionning the new Yamaha DX. I could tell there was more grit to the sound than my FM8 until I realized mine was in high resolution mode.

Switched it back to normal resolution and got more grit but not as much as Dexed.

Now looking forward to the portamento addition which will be really awesome!

Thanks for making this great synth available!!!
