No bug fixes and improvements to make shortly after the introduction of that synth? Sounds unusual because regular users usually detect bugs beta testers don't, simply because there are many more regular users...

Well, we've publicly tested this for almost half a year with a version that was free for everyone. We had tens of thousands of downloads, a One Synth Challenge and Hive is already on television (Sense8 and other series). Hehehe, I don't think we have bugs that are dramatic enough to stall any of those over due issues :clown:

That would be the point of a lengthy open beta with thousands of 'regular users'

Yet I (not exactly a synth freak doing crazy stuff) found a little bug after playing around with Hive sporadically for just two days, a bug which I mentioned in another thread and you confirmed if I remember correctly

That's entirely possible. We do have a collection of bug reports. But if we don't move offices now, we will have to work on the street with no internet, no server, no bugtracking system and actually no updates at all ;)

Oh, you are moving house? I remember the stress surrounding my last move, so you are excused :hihi:

You can always unite Hive with Sylenth and Saurus in your selling thread if U-he's bug fixing isn't fast enough for you.

Why would I? I bought Hive to replace all of my other stuff so I can focus on just two synths, the M1 for modern sounds and Hive for classic ones.

Apart from that I would have to wait for 9 months, like a mom :hihi:

Nor would I know what else to use instead, I have not found anything yet that I am all happy about. And since I have already tried pretty much everything out there, there probably is nothing I would be all happy about.

AFAIR you want to get rid of Sylenth and Saurus because of bugs and missing fixing.

Never mind, just kidding. ;)
the M1 for modern sounds and Hive for classic ones.
I guess you mean the other way round?

Sylenth because it lacks dedicated pulse and pwm, and modulation options, and because further development seems incredibly slow.

Saurus because of its mono mode issues, ridiculous noise implementation, and because it sounds a bit harsh to me, it doesn't have that fine sizzling that Hive or Sylenth can produce.

No, not the other way round :) I use the M1 for modern sounds like "digital" and voice pads, and Hive for emulating classic early 80's sounds and real instruments. It is pretty good at that, despite the EDM hype.

Hive certainly DOES sound very classic, which I like about it. It CAN sound very modern...if anything, most of my feature requests involve it going further in that direction to better compete with Spire and Serum. As-is, Hive already trumps Sylenth :3.

But as far as retro goes, Hive can definitely do that stuff with no problem :). It's not as lush or full as how Diva sounds, but I suppose that's the price to be paid for a low CPU cost. Even then, it still sounds wonderfully lush and entirely unique.

Best of luck to u-he on their move!

That sizzle, that 'electricity' really comes down to the filters. Listen to saw-ish pads in hardware synths, Hive and ESPECIALLY Diva. It sounds like fire to me ^^.

I thought it was a negative thing until I realized it was the sound of hardware/analog - or at least a character that it does. VA soft-synths try to emulate this, some like Sylenth better then others...but nothing comes close to Hive with the exception of Diva. Diva sounds even more fuller and richer then Hive at the cost of a much higher CPU hit.

EDIT: Haha, for all my eagerness in wanting a contrasting chunky vintage supersaw wave-form, some more studying/practicing has nailed me exactly the sort of tone I was looking for. Hive keeps surprising me! :D. I still look forward to some new exciting wave-forms for us to play with in the future!

I wonder if u-he knows if there will be any new features to Hive added this year or Hive will remain as-is for the rest of 2015 :).

We don't know yet.

Our current projects are "moving company", "use new project management and bug tracking software", "fixing bugs & niggles" and "give VST3 another try". Let's see where we're at when all of this is done :)

Hive somehow causes problems for my graphics chip. As soon as I have Hive open, the Hive and all other windows cease to react the way they should. The Hive GUI seems to keep my graphics chip quite busy, it is the only plugin that does that...

Hehe, what graphics chip do you have, and in which way do other windows act differently?
