My impression is that they try to do too much at the same time, be the be-all-and-end-all for home recordists. Something usually gives when a company tries to do this kind of thing, and we are witnessing it. Again, that is just my uninformed opinion.

I don't like their business M.O., but I do really like T-Racks. Their instruments I find lacklustre and flaky. I've never tried MODO bass, as I can play a bass guitar, so have no need. I have yet to find any use for Syntronik, and use Sampletank 3 to play Sampletron's content. Otherwise, I don't bother.

The interesting thing with me is, even while watching this trainwreck, I was tempted to go for it anyways, figuring it will get sorted sooner or later, which it probably will. I just don't need a huge portion of the content, which I am not even really aware of, yet. I don't need pianos, keyboards, drums, ethnic instruments, guitars (I am a guitarist, mainly).

Talvin wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 6:37 pm I thought that Sampletank crashes Studio One when trying to play bigger sized instruments because it sometimes happens that I hear no sound or that sounds are delayed as if I had raised my buffer size.
But today I tried some effect sounds such as Fantasy or Horror. Studio One crashed instantly. Could someone please check if those are working for you.
ST4 has crashed Studio One 4 when using very large sample instruments, for example "Red Strat KS". The first thing I noticed was that the ST4 in-app keyboard would freeze, then no audio output. Tried maxing out dropout protection, doubling audio buffers, etc. But no change. Neither CPU or memory maxing out when this occurs.

Okay - here is my first little ST4 demo - (hopefully this OneDrive link will work!)

It's just a quick little original idea I was jamming around. I opted for using all "real" instruments (no synths or sound effects) and tried to make the mix "live-ish" sounding. It's done completely inside of a single instance of ST4, using only instruments new in ST4 standard (I don't have MAX) - no older ST3 content. Aside from a little subtle EQ (T-Racks Classic EQ), < 3db buss compression (Waves SSL comp) and a transparent brickwall limiter (Waves L1+) all effects were achieved within the single ST4 instance.

Instruments used:

Track 1: Vintage Rock Kit w/British Channel, EG-PQ, Bus Comp, Convoroom (Studio A2), Room Reverb

Track 2: Black LP Full Keyswitch (main guitar muted and sustained notes - neck pickup only) w/ Channel Strip, British Tube Lead, Black 76, Digital Delay

Track 3: Black LP Down-Up Stroke (background power chords - way in background - bridge pickup only) w/ Channel Strip, Modern Tube Lead, White 2A, Chorus C1, Reverb

Track 4: 1973 Stage EP Bright Map w/Channel Strip, EG-PQ, Opto Tremolo, Tube Reverb

Track 5: 4001 Sunburst Fingered (Bass) w/Channel Strip, EG-PQ, Black 75, Chorus C1, SVT Classic

Track 6: Rack 4 Draws 3 (Organ) w/Channel Strip, Sat X, Chorus C1, Spring, Rotary

Guitar sounds pretty good.

Damn...that guitar sounds incredibly sweet. So sad to see IKM having so much troubles with ST4, hopefuly they will fix that before reviews.

Always dropout when loading C7 grand (they're very big)!!
Try loading C7 grand in Sonar or CbB ???

Yeah - I was pretty blown away by the guitar - really usable for demos. I’ve never gotten a guitar sample to sound so real - especially upfront in the mix and only slightly driven. Kudos to IK on that one for sure. It almost makes me want to upgrade to MAX just for the red Strat!

The acoustic guitars sound good too!

I'm sorry, but I think some official explanation is required on why us USB purchasers are still waiting for shipping and have had zero communication from IKM. An email apology at least, although compensation in gear credits is more likely required to 'put this right'
Hi, an email was sent out about the USB stick shipments. I understand the frustration with that part of the process, and since the overwhelming majority of issues people have had are downloading and installation, that is definitely a priority to resolve in the future.

Well done! Sounds great, I do like the live feel and it sounds like you nailed what you were going for. Very nice, I will share that here internally for sure.

Thanks - took me a few days!to finish it up - my “day job” keeps getting in the way, lol!

IK finally sent me a new serial number. The other one got that '405' error.
Now the problem is in the multi window, ST4 has a lock on it. When I click the lock it sends me to a web page buy ST4

Has a fix been posted about this? My USB version is 4.0.2.

I am having the exact same issue with the lock on the Sample Tank 4 content. At least one other user here has also reported they were having the same problem.

Support has asked me to try a few things but still no luck so far.
